practicing i love you's for when
you and i finally click
i don't know when and you
may or may not be expected
but all those practicing will
go to waste
i'll never get to meet you
or maybe i have but we're
not lovers yet
i'm typing this electronically
hoping one day it finds to you
man or woman of my wasted dreams
i'm sorry i left so early
when the party hasn't even started yet
i never planned to, i wanted to stay
i wanted to meet you
take you out on dates where
i convince you to try out a shady place
and you'll stick to something familiar
to you, and i'll ponder on why people
choose so much to stay in a known
place, but not try the rest
we can compromise, right?we'll be too busy to see each other
not even during the eves perhaps
where the blanket of the night
keeps us in deep slumber
meeting one another in dreams
i'll look at you and wonder
ask myself what i had done to
deserve you
and i love you, i love you, i love you
we'll bask in the afternoon rays
where they look like kaleidoscopes
on curtains
thinking about the bills to pay
the ever looming darkness
in our hearts where
one or both of us are in a chokehold
of the sea of negative feelings that's
been taunting us way before
but we pull each other through
like from a tub of ice wateri love you, i love you, and i love you more
we'll get married and
maybe start a family
keep this love alive with a child
who doesn't deserve this fucked up world
maybe, just maybe
we'll live that married life
of either consistent fight or flights
or the feel of a warm sweater during
a cold day
or maybe both
because we love each other too much
maybe, just maybei love you, and i love you so much
i hope you remember that
i hope you know
i hope you feel that in a calm breeze
that may swim past you
and you'll look back, wondering
who i was
