you're young and impressionable
you think being a girl sucks and being a boy is
cooler, more appreciated than that of what you have
you hate your name because it's girly
you hate your hair because it's the same as the girls
you hate skirts, dresses, anything associated to girls
you hate pink, Barbie dolls, and having a higher pitch
and for a long time, you hated whatever you had
you didn't know the concept but you just knew
you're at a lower balanceyou're a pre-teen and you're the same
you like video games, action movies, and boy
magazines with male characters on the front
you like them and you do to an extent
but in the back of your mind there's an opposite pull
you ignore it, you like blue, hate feelings, and think
girls are dumb for sharing them, for fighting
when they feel uncomfortable
you think they're on their periods when they're mad
you're a sex traitor but you don't know that yetyou're a teenager and you're... expressionable
but you're angry and full of hate, full of sadness and
unresolved feelings
you like skirts now, the color pink, and you think
your name is unique, but you still think it's odd
anyhow, you like feelings, emotions, cherry-picked
rom-coms, and hate action movies for most part
nothing interesting in violence and explosions
all the time
video games rarely pique you and you feel free
you hate yourself but at least you think girls are coolyou're a woman and... just a woman
you wonder if the girl youth will withstand the
oncoming hurricane of judgment from girls and boys
alike, and you worry for them, like a mother would
you worry when boys and men treat girls and women
terribly for being ignorant of them
you worry when boys and men treat girls and women
as nothing but objects of pleasure and beauty like
the industry does more than half the time
you worry when boys and men treat girls and women
like they would to oppressed minorities whom they
may call sensitive, snowflakes, and stupid
you worry and worry, but still hope for the best
perhaps in time this unfairness between the sexes
will subside and everyone will simply see the good
in people, no more prejudice against a particular sex
for not being on par as the other
in time, perhaps the world will be kinder and gentler
to the girl youth
