A few weeks had passed since they visited the Cullen home. Tobias and Ren had been spending a lot of time in Rosalie's studio either watching her paint or Tobias painting alongside her as Ren sat and watched.

Ren had gone out with her parents to do something, leaving him alone in the Cullen home waiting when someone entered.

"I thought you'd be in Rosalie's studio," Jasper said as he leaned against a wall. He shrugged, "I will, I'm just waiting for Ren to get back." He answered. He didn't really know Jasper that well.

"Here, how about I take you somewhere while you wait? Ren's been telling me about your painting block. Maybe the view will help you." He suggested. Tobias hesitated a bit but gave in eventually considering he was Ren's family.

They took one of the family cars, driving down some roads before parking on the side and walking up a hill.

Tobias was starting to worry before they landed on an opening, a cliff that looked over La Push.

"Wow." That was all he could say as he walked closer to the edge. He remembered the cliff, Lucine had shown it to him a hundred times over growing up. He'd painted it a few times too.

"This is beautiful." He said as he looked over the water as the fog slightly floated over it.

"This was Lucine's favorite spot," Jasper confessed as he took a seat on a tree trunk, looking out at the clouded sky.

"How well did you know Lucine?" Tobias questioned bravely. He knew she was a sensitive topic for the family. He knew they were close, Lucine had spoken about Jasper a few times.

Jasper smiled as he looked down at a bracelet around his wrist. It looked worn out like he didn't take it off for anything.

"I loved her." He confessed.

"Rosalie told me that you and she were her best friends," Tobias said, thinking maybe that's what he meant. Jasper chuckled.

"We were but in the end, we both fell in love with her." Tobias couldn't help the shock as he turned around to look at Jasper.

"But she and Rosalie were together before she passed." Jasper nodded as he sighed. "Did you ever tell her?" Jasper simply chuckled. "Of course, I didn't."

"Why not?" Tobias was playing a dangerous game but he could care less.

"Because Lucine was already falling in love with Rosalie by the time I realized. They both deserved to be happy and I couldn't risk my friendship with Lucine by confessing." He said with a small smile as he toyed with the bracelet.

"Tell me about her," Tobias asked after a bit of silence as he took on the edge the same way Lucine used to do.

"She was-is the most beautiful person I've met in my very long life. The time I spent with her is a time I want to go back to. I wish I could go back to the time I visited her in her room to say goodbye. I wish I had the courage to kiss her that night." He said as he looked up at the sky.

"She was this sparky girl that always lit up any room she walked in. She was selfless, always putting others' needs before hers, and look where that landed her." He said as he remembered the worst day of his life.

He looked up as Tobias turned around.

"I never stopped loving her and I don't know if I ever will," he confessed. Tobias debated with himself whether to tell Lucine or not. Wishing that she could hear all of this.

"Have you ever told anyone about your feelings towards her?" Tobias asked. Jasper just shook his head.

"Never. If I couldn't tell her all of this when she was alive." he paused for a second as if simply acknowledging that she was gone hurt him. "If I couldn't tell her while she was alive then what's the point in saying it to anyone else." He said making Tobias turn back around.

"Then why are you telling me?" He questioned.

Jasper shrugged as he looked at the fabric bracelet Lucine had given him. It was falling apart, barely holding itself together.

"I don't know. Something about you reminds me of something or someone she wrote about in her journal."

"Who?" He'd never heard about a journal. Lucine never told him anything about a journal she wrote while she was alive.

"She used to get visits by some celestial being that would sit and talk to her. Comfort her when she needed it the most. He was apparently the one that told her about her death." Tobias was confused as to how that had anything to do with him.

"The way she described him." Jasper continued. "Reminds me of you. I've read the journal a hundred times over and you're almost the spitting image of him. Your hair is darker and your eyes aren't that pale white she described but everything else is the same."

"Odd," Tobias said.

"You know, I think Lucine would've liked you. She did always have a thing for befriending odd people." Jasper said as he stood up, walking back to the car with Tobias following after him.

Tobias said nothing about calling him odd.

"Could I read the journal?" He asked, wanting to know more about Lucine's life before she passed. She rarely ever told him things.

Jasper thought for a second before nodding. "I don't see why not. Ren probably would've let you read it at some point anyways." He said as they drove back to the house.

"If you could say anything to Lucine if she were to come back, what would you tell her?" Tobias asked as they drove closer to the house.

"I'd tell her that Rosalie misses her. That I'm sorry that I couldn't protect her and that I hope she's okay."

"You wouldn't tell her you love her?"

Jasper shook his head.

"No, I wouldn't want to tell her if I knew she wasn't going to stay for good."

"Why?"

"Because she's too much of a people pleaser. She wouldn't want the last memory I have of her to be rejection. She'd lie and tell me she loved me too." Tobias stayed quiet, knowing that Jasper was completely right.
