3rd POV

-Five Years Later-

Clay felt lonely.

More than he ever has these last few long years. It was a bitter cold autumn morning, but this morning was a special one.

"I'm going out, you wanna come?" Clay called to his friends George and Nick, as he tied his shoes getting ready to leave.

"We'll visit her tonight if that's ok?" Nick responded sadly. "I have a few things I need to get done, and I need George's help."

He smiled. He hasn't smiled the past few weeks leading up to this memorable day. It wasn't like he didn't want them to come, but he was happy that he could spend some time alone.

He pulled on a hoodie, since the air was chilly. He grabbed his guitar, and strung it over his right shoulder. He closed the door behind him, and breathed in deep, the welcoming smell of Autumn.

He smiled once more.

He bounded down the steps of the house, and began walking to a place he hasn't been in a while. A place full of trees, stones and melancholy.

The breeze bit his freckled face, causing his cheeks, nose and even the tips of his ears to turn a pretty shade of pink.

He noticed a lot of things this morning. Like the small cracks in the sidewalk, or the leaves rustling on the trees.

He heard the birds singing and the fabric of his shirt rubbing against each other as he walked. He even paid attention to the small pebbles that skidded under his feet.

He was lonely. He also learned to be very appreciative of the things around him.

He walked this path many times before, and a long time ago, everyday. He passed stones that all had writing on them but only one stone mattered to him.

The stone was lovely. He had to pick it out, and the words etched on its surface. He walked over and laid down a bouquet of flowers he bought. He sat down and leaned on a tree that was across from the stone he came to visit.

It was a mix of flowers, each with their own meaning.

Red Carnation - Love, affection, admiration

Alstroemeria - A gesture to keep you head up, loyalty, devotion

Zinnia - Remembrance, Happy memories

Purple Hyacinth - Regret, asking for forgiveness

Asphodel - I'm sorry

Stargazer Lilies - I miss you

Half of the flowers were joyful and happy, the other half sad and regretful. But that was what Clay wanted. Balanced.

Clay backed up into a tree and gently slid down to the soft grass. Not moving his eyes from the headstone. He pulled out his guitar a started plucking a few notes.

1:40

"Maybe we know how it's all gonna end,

Baby we crash and we burn,

Over and over and over again,

The lesson that I have to learn is,"

The feeling of melancholy erupted in his body, creating a lump in his throat. He played this song once to Y/n over discord. It didn't sound the best on her side, but she loved it nonetheless.

And he got to play it one last time.

Clay strummed and strummed. The bittersweet notes filling the cemetery.

He only noticed the tears when the wind hit his face, turning the tears cold. His eyes soon became heavy, and his hiccuping became less frequent. He laid his guitar down and closed his eyes.

Clay slowly drifted off to sleep. Clay took to rest under a tree, across from his lover's grave.

And Clay dreamt on.

2:25

"It's not love but,

it's still something,

It's enough to keep me,

from running from you."

——————————————————

He woke from the exhausting dreams that have been haunting him for years. His eyes adjusted to the sun and met a piece of stone. His emerald eyes read the writing that was etched on the stone, he swear he's read it for the thousandth time, and perhaps this was his last.

"But isn't it nice,

How I come alive,

When the moon meets your eyes is,

Isn't it nice?"

And it was love

He regrets that day. He regret that his own mind had to put the blame on something. Something so thought out and so intricate, a whole story. That to him, it was real. When In reality, it was His fault.

The sun shown through the leaves of the tree, making the headstone glow. The sun rested on the boy's hair, turning blonde into silky gold. His freckles were shown more prominently, as well as his emerald eyes.

Clay walked to Her grave, his soft hands brushed the smooth surface of the headstone. He left one last kiss against the shiny granite.

It was time to let go.

The male stood up, the autumn breeze hitting his face, making him shiver. He took one last look at the bright but depressing flowers that laid neatly on the glittering grave.

And began his walk home.

The End.

This is kinda up for interpretation.
