Chapter 49

Doomsday: Part 3

~3rd Person~

"You sure you're okay to fight?" Dream nudged Y/n's hand. Y/n nodded silently, as she continued to stare down at the path the duo walked down.

"Dream! They've found him." A yell came from the battalion behind them. Both sides of the war banded together to take down Schlatt for good.

There were a few people who held a grudge against Dream for reviving Schlatt. But that wasn't the worst of it, the real problem was that people now knew about the book and it's ability to revive. It scared Dream.

Dream cleared his throat and turned to the regiment, "Bad, you'll be the escort of this mission. You obtain the compass that directs us towards Punz and Purpled."

Bad made his way to the front and bowed, "Thank you, your highness."

Dream had to hold in a laugh at the title Bad had given him. But Y/n was more careless about keeping it in, and she burst out laughing; which earned a few odd looks that were far from discreet.

After Y/n got a hold of herself, she waved to the people who would be staying, which included Tubbo, for a broken leg and Tommy who stayed for his best friend.

Unfortunately, quite a few remained behind. But to list a few that would be going on this expedition, Dream, Y/n, Sapnap, Technoblade, Captain Puffy, Nihachu, Badboyhalo, and Eret.

Eight people weren't a lot, but it should be enough to fight one man... right?

The group got their needed items and began to follow the needle of the compass.

"Can I ask you something?" Y/n whispered to Dream whilst jumping over a small boulder. "Uh, yeah sure." He answered, stepping over the same boulder.

"Remember after my execution? We sat together outside on the stairs?" Y/n started.

Dream winced, remembering how he discovered her white streak of hair, "Yeah, I'm sorry the totem didn't world properly-"

Y/n shoved him, "No, not that! Also, that wasn't your fault."

Dream huffed, still feeling bad, "Whatever."

Y/n let out a small laugh, but it quickly died. And Dream noticed, "You okay?"

Y/n gulped, "It's just- it's just you told me you failed someone else."

Dream had to have been distracted or definitely did not expect it because he tripped and landed straight into the mud. "Wh-what?"

Y/n immediately apologized, "I'm sorry, was that too far? Did I overstep, I just thought-"

Dream got up from the muddy ground and engulfed her into a hug, "It's okay, I-I just wasn't expecting that."

Tears pricked Dream's eyes and he inhaled a choppy breath. Y/n felt his body begin to shake, and Y/n hugged him tighter before pulling away and facing the crowd that was slowly gaining ground towards the two of them.

"We're taking a break!" Which a few cheers were yelled into the forest.

Y/n grabbed Dream's hand and guided him a bit further into the woodland. Y/n found a log and sat Dream down against the side of it, which she quickly plopped down to join him.

"Lay down." Y/n patted her lap, Dream stiffened before complying and lying his head on her thigh.

Y/n unclipped his mask and revealed his blotchy red face. Y/n frowned at the tears that ran down his freckled face.
