The next day, in Tanis, in Lower Egypt, people were chatting as they went about their business in their boats on the Nile River.
"Hey! It seems like the daughter of the Nile is soon going to appear in the courtyard!" a woman transporting some fruit said.
"Let's go look at the daughter of the Nile's lively self!" a man in another boat, transporting different goods said.
"Well, just there," another man in the same boat said. "On the way to return to the capital of Thebes... It's because the citadel's palace is near that we can look at her."
Memphis could hear what they were saying from the castle.
"It's because Carol has returned that the people are so excited," Memphis said.
"Yes, since the daughter of the Nile is back, the country of Egypt is both tranquil and delighted," one of the court members said.
"These people's happiness will be clouded over in a war..." Memphis said, expecting they hadn't heard the last of Ragash.
"Indeed..." Minue said, concerned.
'However, if that crafty King Ragash's aim moves to my Egypt then a war is unavoidable,' Memphis thought. "Then it is better to quickly make preparations for war," he decided. He handed a scroll to Minue. "Minue, quickly take these documents to Imhotep in the capital of Thebes."
"Yes... Certainly!" Minue said, taking the scroll.
"Pharaoh, all the administrative officials everywhere have been informed," one of the officials who was helping Memphis said.
"Pharaoh what should we do about this?" another official asked.
"Could it really be that the elder sister Queen Isis had betrayed us?" a third official asked two others.
"Yes!" said a fourth official.
"The pharaoh has not mentioned anything regarding his thoughts on his elder sister Isis or her circumstances," a fifth official said.
"The gentle daughter of the Nile, too, kept the pharaoh's heart in mind and silently tolerated the terrible mistreatment of Queen Isis," a sixth official said.
"Have more spies infiltrate the capital of Babylon," Memphis ordered. "Probe into the state of affairs of Babylonia. Gather information regarding any military preparations."
"Yes! Upon having the details in hand, we will examine them more closely," the second official said.
"Pharaoh! A report from the garrison in Arabia has come in," an Egyptian solider reported, carrying a scroll.
"Oh!" Memphis said. He heard cheering.
"The daughter of the Nile has come to the courtyard!" a voice said loudly.
"Daughter of the Nile!" another voice said. Memphis looked out and saw Carol was indeed in the courtyard, accompanied by Unas and Ruka.
"It's Carol!" he said, smiling at the sight of her. 'So she woke up...'
"Daughter of the Nile! Please accept these!" a servant said, offering her a basket of pears.
"Please accept these freshly picked grapes!" another servant said, holding a basket of grapes. Carol stopped walking when she looked up and saw Memphis.
"Ah! Memphis!" Carol said, smiling up at him.
"Oh!" Memphis said.
"Queen Carol!" Minue said.
"Daughter of the Nile!" an official said. They all smiled at Carol.
"These people! So much for Carol... There is no need to worry that much," Memphis said.
