"With Ruka's treatment, the lady's arm healed quickly," the court doctor remarked after examining Bonnie.
"That's a hyperbole," Ruka said, bowing.
"No, I'm impressed, too," Bonnie said.
"You'll get rich if you run a private hospital," Carol told him.
"Your joke is witty, my lady!" Naptera said.
'Incredible! Ruka's remedy is quite effective... Egyptian medical skill has been well-known since ancient times... Its apex is the mummification technique," Carol thought, looking at her cousin's arm. "Ruka said tomorrow he can take off the bandage! Isn't that great?"
"I'm really looking forward to that!" Bonnie said.
"Congrats, my lady!" Naptera said, glad she was healing up so nicely. Carol recalled how Professor Brown had said before that the Egyptians were medically skilled.
'Professor Brown was right!' Carol thought. 'If we can return to the 20th century, I'll certainly tell him about this. A true experience that we personally faced...'
"You must be bored just sitting here, Carol. Let's stretch our legs," Bonnie said with a smile, knowing her cousin preferred to be more active but had been staying indoors to keep her company while she healed.
"Yes!" Carol said, smiling brightly. Ruka watched the two girls step outside the room and head down to the waterside to play.
'These girls are strange... so innocent, like children... even Bonnie...' Ruka thought, seeing the smiles on their faces while they played by the water and splashed each other a bit. Bonnie, despite being the more mature of the two and being injured, was having just as much fun and smiling just as brightly as Carol. "Is this why they're so lovely?"
"Thank you, Ruka. It's because of you that my arm healed," Bonnie thanked him again as they stopped playing by the water and came back over to him.
"You're welcome. Seeing you healthy makes me happy," Ruka said. Carol picked a flower and tucked it into Bonnie's hair.
"There! It looks good on you," Carol said, smiling.
"Ruka, you can go!" Memphis said, alerting them to his arrival as he came up to stand behind them.
"Ho... Your Highness," Ruka said.
'Hmm! He dares to come see us?' Carol thought, upset.
'I hope he isn't here to cause trouble...' Bonnie thought.
"I heard Bonnie's arm has healed. I've come to visit..." Memphis said.
"No! I don't want to see your face!" Carol said, refusing to look at him. Memphis was shocked.
"What?" he said incredulously. He blocked Carol's way when she tried to run away from him, making her bump into him.
"Carol!" Bonnie said, worried when he grabbed her.
"What did you just say?" Memphis asked angrily. "You dared to tell an Egyptian pharaoh to leave?"
"Ahh, it hurts!" Carol said when he squeezed her arm. She was scared he would break her arm, too.
"Your sedition can get you beheaded, understand?" Memphis told Carol threateningly.
"Ahh... my arm..." Carol gasped when he squeezed her tighter. 'Such a rough ruffian, he hurts me...'
"Apologize to me!" Memphis ordered her.
"Stop! You're hurting her!" Bonnie said sternly.
"You presume to order a pharaoh—" Memphis started to snap at her, when Unas came running up to them.
