Chapter 8

"Sonic!" Knuckles said "just listen to him and bring them all to fak-'my house'" shadow said and before he could argue he hung up "wow" sonic said slightly surprised "we should start heading over" shadow started "and quickly the mud's already dried" sonic continued and looked down at his arms that had dry flaky mud on his poor darkly colored fur

Shadow thought for a second and without thinking he picked sonic up bridal style causing sonic to yelp in surprise and subconsciously held onto his neck so he wouldn't fall "shadow??" Sonic said flustered but shadow didn't respond and ran off.

Shadow ran up to the houses door step and placed the hedgehog in his arms down and surprisingly gentle wile doing so

Sonic opened the door pushing it open for both of them to come in "you don't lock your front door?" Shadow questioned after sonic closed the door after him "nope" sonic said and took off the heavy air shoes shadow also copied this action taking off the brown pair of shoes no one realized he was wearing and placed them neatly next to sonics "sorry i only have one shower, do you wanna go first?" Sonic asked "no its fine i can wait" shadow replied flatly "okay then ill be back before you know it!" Sonic said and rushed upstairs And into the bathroom.

Shadow stood in the same spot not moving much he didn't want to dirty anything else so he'd have to be patient and wait

Meanwhile with sonic once he closed the door he removed his socks and gloves leaving the inhibitor rings on he knew that it wouldn't be a good idea to take them off for too long so he was quick with it, once he was all ready he turned on the faucet letting the water rain out of the shower head he touched the water with the tips of his fingers flinching slightly he was still slightly afraid of water

He looked at his hand touching the water and calmed down a bit after a little while but then remembered something and ran back towards the door and opened it hesitating slightly "HEY shadow its okay if i shower right?!" Sonic yelled from the restroom, for a solid minute it was quiet "um yeah?" Shadow yelled back obviously confused why he'd even ask "why?" Shadow continued "no reason" sonic said and closed the door again.

He slowly got into the shower and hesitantly put soap on his wash rag while the warm water ran down his body
He rubbed the rag on his fur and could feel his face heat up for some unknown reason that he couldn't understand but he just rubbed it off and continued he didn't want to take too long.

Meanwhile shadow was starting to have a hard time with waiting, all of a sudden he felt a strong feeling of discomfort like he needed something. but what? He started to tap his foot on the ground impatiently not realizing that he was slightly growling in annoyance, shadow looked around the room to get his head off of whatever was bothering him

He wandered around the living room a bit looking at the multiple picture frames with sonic and his large group of friends he noticed that he wasn't in any of the photos and couldn't help but feel slightly.. sad and didn't know why, he recognized the feeling it wasn't the first time he's felt it but it was weird, why now why did it matter it matter if he was in any of the photos or not, it makes sense why he isn't they're rivals after all.

Shadows ears perked up when he heard the shower stopped, he walked back to where he was  standing originally he stared at a certain picture that had caught his eye before that was sitting on the TV stand if was a photo of sonic on the beach with a beautiful sunset behind him.

Shadow turned his attention to the stairs once he heard footsteps coming his way, it was sonic holding a clean neatly folded towel and wash rag "sorry i took so long, lost track of time" sonic laughed nervously his face was flushed

"Here you can take a shower now, when your done you can put the stuff in the wash" sonic said handing the towel and rag to shadow pointing towards the laundry room

Shadow simply nodded his head and walked upstairs wondering 'what was up with his face?'
