A/N: This story is set in the British Raj, and Anirudh here shares many traits with the real Anirudh in Barrister Babu. A true man never changes, y'know? ;)

Bondita's POV:-

I was quietly minding my business, trying to find an appropriate gift for a meeting with a Lord, when the strange vampire stole my reserved piece.

Well, tried to.

How did I know he was a vampire? It's easy. A ghastly pallor, sharp eyes and unusual charm is all that's usually needed to make a guess.

"Who? Me? I'm not a vampire." Came the response in an almost believable tone, from the mouth of a man who literally looked like a liar.

Being pretty doesn't negate one's aura, especially in front of a werewolf.

"Give it back. You don't know who I am." I said with a harsh edge to my words, as I peered into his hazel hued eyes. They were strange, like innocent siren children trapped in hell, screaming for help, in agony from simply being born of foul blood.

"Do you know who I am, Miss Werewolf?"

"How did y-"

"Save it. You know how. Even a mute face can tell a thousand tales." The man smirked, amused by something I didn't quite understand.

"Well, then who are you, Vampire?" I asked, my mind plagued with intrigue.

"I go by Anirudh. Rings a bell?"

Hmm. So he's the kind, sweet prince their kind hates. Wasn't he the one to rescue some wolf-pups imprisoned by Lord Merwick (the one I'm going to meet) to cash them for slavery in the upcoming annual auction?

"Ah. So you're the weak-ass Robin Hood they keep bullying among the vamps. Heard you drink rabbit blood instead of human. Tell me, how does it taste– bunny essence?" I chuckled, trying to picture him drinking bunny blood in a champagne glass, while other nobles went on hunts to taste something real.
Was he always this way? I wondered.

"I...no, I'm not a hero. In fact, I'm not even human. I'm a monster but I try not to be." A quiver in his voice, enough to send shivers down my strong spine. I saw his vision blur with uncontained moisture, and for the first time in my life, I felt pity for a vampire.

A vampire I met less than 5 minutes ago, and yet I felt as if our connection has run through lifetimes beyond mortal times.
"Hey...why do you think so? I think you did a pretty good job protecting those kids, despite being so...delicate."

"You think I'm delicate?" He said, as he lifted his head, eyes now looking directly into my own.

"I mean...you seem like you'd sh*t yourself upon killing a cockroach."

"Huh... I've done far worse things than killing a cockroach, but none of which I approved of. Which is why I stay away from violence, now that I have the authority to do so. But I think I missed your name, Miss Werewolf."

"Bondita, Bondita Das."

"A princess, like myself. Do you think it was fate that drew us to each other?" He leaned towards me, and I noticed his dainty lashes batting slowly with anticipation, longer than any woman I've come across. Vampires are attractive indeed.

"We digress, and I don't know Lady Luck personally, but I am capable of snatching that shawl back, especially because I'm not one of your regular wolves. I don't need a full moon night to turn."
I just realised I had only fifteen minutes left to make my way to the Lord's residence. Father would kill me if I f**ked up this deal.

The British have been growing impatient lately, and they won't favour the wolves for long if we don't give them what they want. What they want is control over all territories, and a certain fabled stone that is supposedly controlled by the vampires. This meeting is the one chance for us to buy some time.

"Ouch. That piercing gaze certainly hurts. But... do you think I'm a normal vampire?"

"Don't bluff. The only rare vampires of pure breed were extincted centuries ago, that is the reason why we wolves were able to regain control, how can I just believe what yo-"

"Shh..." He put a finger to my lips, and I should've turned red with rage the very second that he did so, but some sort of compulsion worked its magic on me, compelling me to quietness.

"Bondita, you know how I was able to battle against hundreds of vampires to free those children? It's because I've manifested Original Blood.

I'm a million times more potent than any vamp you've met, and wolf-venom doesn't affect me. I'm not nearly as normal as you think I am. I don't use my powers in public, and that's the only reason you were able to catch up to me. And I'm taking this shawl, so shoo."

I had never been subject to such indignity. But I didn't have time for revenge, so I just said that had been currently on my mind. "Listen, I really need this shawl. I'm late for a meeting, and my father wouldn't be happy if I missed it." I pleaded, swallowing any last shreds of grace left down my throat. I needed this shawl.

"Okay then. Let me help you, Little Wolf. And yes, I do drink bunny blood. If I were to drink human, I can't imagine what might be in store for those who wrong me."
