This is another Zen reminder I wrote for my own practice.

And I will be careful. When I am hard and selfish, I do far worse than hurt my own peace of mind; I hurt the peace of mind of others. Alternatively, when I am kind and helpful, others feel at ease and become kinder themselves. This is profound because I may help others accrue merit. Thus, I will be a rounded object: when I have reasons to believe, firm and even, but when confronted also edgeless. I will strike balance. I won't foster resentment with the use of harsh words, nor will I indulge the ego with spinelessness. I will foster altruism. Through patience and quiet teaching, I will help others find Happiness and happiness and all three. This is the bodhisattva's way.
