CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: How to Get out of Detention

Is it me? Or am I just really insane? I was getting detention for two weeks every evening, with my least favorite teacher and I’m happy. Wow that’s new. But I wasn’t the only one,

“I told you guys we would get detention,” said James airily and putting his hands behind his head as we walked. We were heading to the common room since all of our classes were over.

“I never thought I would actually be happy in getting detention.” said Scorpius almost to himself

“I know right.” I said agreeing

“Though I know James enjoyed it the most.” Said Scorpius smirking and giving James a knowing look, I just raised an eyebrow. James gave him a glare.

“Er, yeah of course,” said James eventually after giving Scorpius a death glare “I got to hex Zabini, of course I’m happy.”

“But you always hex him.” I said as we got to the portrait of The Fat Lady

“Balderdash.” Said Scorpius and the portrait swung open and we entered the common room, sitting by the fire

“That’s why I’m always happy.” Said James answering my previous statement, I just shook my head

“So what are we doing tonight?” I asked

“Detention remember?” said James, I rolled my eyes

“Aside from that” I said

“We can’t go to the library tonight,” said Scorpius

“YES!” said James punching the air, Scorpius and I rolled our eyes

“We’ll only have to eavesdrop,” Scorpius continued “and let’s bring the map.”

“Speaking of the map,” I said “where is it?”

“In our dorm,” said James casually “I don’t get to check it out much anymore because of detention and people might see.”

“Fine,” I said “but bring it tonight though.”

“Sure, sure.” Said James, at that I got out my things and started doing my homework. After an hour and a half, I finally finished and fixed up my things.

“Where you off to?” asked James looking up from his Potions Essay

“Up to my dorm, I’m finished I’ll see meet with you guys later down here before dinner.”

James nodded and went back to his essay while I headed up to my dorm.

I got into my dorm and saw that my roommates were still doing their homework, in their usual places Michelle on the desk her curly brown hair tied in a messy bun and biting the tip of her quill. Coleen on the floor doing her straight brown hair falling on her face as she was writing, and of course Laila was on her bed doing her own homework.

I quietly went to my bed and put my stuff down.

“Oh, Alexia I didn’t notice you there.” Said Coleen as I passed, I smiled

“That’s because you’re too caught up with homework.” I said

“You can say that.” She smiled

“Yeah, just go on don’t let me bother you.”

She nodded and I just got to my bed and lay down

“Hi Alexia,” said Laila

“Hey there Laila,” I greeted back “what’s up?”

“I was just doing my Potions essay,” she said “I’m starting to get the hang of it; Scorpius was a really good tutor I couldn’t thank him enough.”
