Chapter 24

“Hey....hey Jackalin...JACKALIN!”

“Mhm yeah I’m up!” I shouted looking around.

“Calm down! We just arrived at the school haha.” Winter said from across the aisle.

“Oh right. Yeah the school, what time is it?” I asked gathering all my stuff.

“It’s about two-thirty. They get out in like an hour and a half.” She replied.

“Who the hell gets out of school at four pm?” I asked yawning and stretching.

“Apparently they do! Come on lets get off this bus, it smells.”

“Good idea!” I said taking in a whiff. It smelt like ten years of settled dust. It made me want to sneeze, a lot.

I stepped foot off the bus and was immediately surprised. It was warmer here than it was back home. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I didn’t know how much I would like it, or if I’d get home sick. I was ready to take those chances though. After we got our bags we went inside to put them in a small room. After that we sat down and waited about forty-five minutes for our Twins to show up. Immediately Valerie and I found each other. She looked a lot different in person, even a little prettier.

“Salut Jackalin!” She said sitting next to me.

“Salut!” I said back getting a little more nervous. We spent the next half hour waiting for the other twins to get together. Once everyone was done we heard the bell and headed out to the auditorium to do karaoke.

An hour later we were exiting the auditorium everyone laughing and enjoying themselves. Valerie’s mom was waiting for us when we got into the lobby. We grabbed my bags, got into her car and headed off to her house.

We arrived in about twenty minutes. The house looked kind of small but that didn’t matter. When we walked in immediately I heard a dog barking. A man, a girl, and the dog all came out at once. They were both smiling and so I smiled back. Between all five of us, there was an awkward silence. Finally Valerie’s mom broke it.

“Bonjour! Je m'appelle Lucy.” She said smiling. She then pointed to her boyfriend and said “Laurence, and Mary-eve.” She finished pointing to the girl.

“Bonjour!” I said smiling and waving to everyone.

“I will show you your room now?” Valerie said picking up my big suitcase.

I followed her down the stairs and into a very spacious empty looking room. We took a small step up and then continued through a doorway. She turned on the light and set my bag down. I looked around smiling. It was super pretty, the walls were striped, the colors light blue and light green. There were two butterfly things on the walls and a small flat screen t.v. in the corner. The bed was a twin, and the comforter was a white with light green print. After I finished looking around we went back upstairs to eat.

“Tu aime lasagna?” Asked Lucy.

“Oui, tres beaucoup.” I said happily.

When I bit into the lasagna I was in heaven. It was amazing, just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The salad was very good too, although I have no idea what kind of dressing was on it. After we finished all that we had a type of pudding desert that you cook in the stove. It was all very good and after the meal I was stuffed. I was pretty tired so I took a quick shower then went to my bedroom. Once in there I got out my blanket and the bear that didn’t talk and put both under the comforter. I then shut off the light and climbed in bed quickly falling asleep.
