Chapter 13 Part A

It was wednesday night and I was waiting for Victoria, a girl from my bus to pick me up. Well actually her mom was picking me up and then was going to bring us both to her church youth group. She had invited me over to spend the night and then we were gonna try and go shopping tomorrow for the black light dance next friday. Eventually they showed up and I ran out to meet them. My dad said that since they were church goers he didn’t need to meet her parents.

“Hey whats up Jackalin?” She asked.

“Hey nothin’ much you?”

“Oh nothing really, I brought cupcakes for a snack!” She exclaimed.

“Really? I can’t wait to try them.” I told her. I really like cupcakes they are just so good.

“The only thing is the frosting is a bit sweet.” She warned.

It took about ten minutes to arrive at the church and we did it kinda quiet listening to music. When we got to the church and were heading in she reassured me that her youth group was nice and I should get along with them, and if I felt the need to swear to do it really quiet. We put the cupcakes in the fridge then went upstairs and played a game of air hockey while we waited for everyone to show up. Finally it started and we all grabbed chairs making a circle. Once in the circle the person running the youth group, a lady named Stacy decided to have me introduce myself.

“I don’t wanna talk to these people!” I whispered to Victoria who sat right beside me.

“Do you want me to introduce you?” She asked me. I told her yes just as the Stacy was looking at me.

“Okay so I’m going to introduce her,” Victoria began. “This is Jackalin and she goes to my school. We’ve been friends for about two weeks. I invited her over to go shopping for our black light dance next friday, and- wait she blushing. Why are you blushing?” She asked in an accusing tone.

“Its because of me and my hotness, she just can’t handle it.” A boy named Josh said looking at me flirty.

People were looking at me laughing. I guess my face looked kind of disgusted in a way.

“You just made her puke in her mouth!” Victoria said still laughing.

After we calmed down a little Stacy took the advantage to get back on track. “It’s nice to meet you Jackalin.” She said. “Okay now we need to find out what we are going to do tonight. Any ideas?” She asked looking around.

“Lets play mafia!” A kid exclaimed. Everyone else agreed so we played. It didn’t seem like a game most churches would play, just for the fact of people die and it has nothing to do with anything churchy. I was surprised that we were even allowed to play it. A bowl was passed around while we listened to the instructions. We each had to take a piece of paper that would explain what our job was. Since we had a small group there ended up being two mafias, one nurse, one police officer, the game moderator, and three townies. I pulled out my paper which had the word Townie written on it. No one was allowed to know who anyone else was that way there would be no cheating. The bowl was passed around again and we put our papers back in it. The moderator started the game.

“Everyone go to sleep. Mafia awaken. Mafia, who do you want to kill?” There was a slight pause and then “Mafia go to sleep. Nurse awaken. Nurse who do you want to save?” Another pause then “Nurse go to sleep. Police awaken. Police, who do you want to know about?” There was a final pause before “Police go to sleep. Okay everyone awaken.” She looked at Josh. “Josh, there was an accident and your legs got like cut off and you kinda like bled to death. Fortunately the ambulance came too late. I’m sorry.”

Everyone started laughing. I was almost positive that most churches wouldn’t play this game. Then it came down to the vote, on who we thought the mafia was. Of course I knew one of them, but I wasn’t about to say anything. She was sitting across from Josh though, and it would be easiest to just raise your arm and and point straight across so everyone guessed it was her. We voted and a majority voted her so she was out. We ended up playing two more rounds, which for those too I was  a townie. In one round however I was killed, which made us all laugh and wonder who it was. Most people thought it was Josh because he had been flirting with me the whole time. Eventually we ended the game and went downstairs to watch a short movie thing called 30 Hours of Famine. Its about kids that go without eating for thirty hours and then collect food and give it to the less fortunate who feel hungry all the time. They decided that they would like to do something like that one day, and after that we all prayed for people that we were close to who had diseases and other things. Soon the thing ended and we headed back to Victoria house. Her dad was driving us back and we listened to Jesus music on the way back.

“Oh I love this song!” She exclaimed turning it up. It was kind of like a metal band, only the lyrics were meant towards Jesus and his love. It actually wasn’t that bad. As we pulled into her drive the song ended and she began talking again.

“Sorry if you don’t like that kind of music, I really like stuff like that. What do you listen to?” She asked me.

“Actually to be honest, I listen to stuff like that.” I told her watching her face light up with happiness.

“Really? None of my friends listen to it. So this is way cool! I have some Skillet in my room if you want to listen to it when we get up there.” I could tell she was really happy right now.

“Yeah that would be awesome!” I exclaimed.

We got up to her room and listened to the music, she even got me hooked on banana chips. I was surprised that her being a very preppy person would listen to that. Later on her dog Minnie wanted to come in so we let her. Big mistake. She is usually more reserved around Victoria’s friends but not this time. She jumped all over us and licked me until I was soaked. Trying to escape her I rolled off the bed and landed on my back. I quickly turned around so my front half was facing under the bed, but she still kept trying to get at me. You might be wondering where my “friend” was, well I’ll tell you where. She was right on the bed taking a video of this and laughing at my troubles, but nooo not helping me. It was pretty funny though, and I was definitely glad I came tonight. We got on facebook and she went to tend to her frontierville game. I told her that she could eventually get a husband but she had to complete missions. She wanted one so we spent a while trying to get her one. Then she got a mission that told her she needed a cow, but she didn’t have enough neighbors to buy her one. So we sent out requests. No one was really responding to them and we were tired so we went to bed.

In the morning I woke up and she was already in her room picking out what she was going to wear for the day. She saw I was awake and told me that she hadn’t wanted to wake me up so she spent sometime searching up music on Itunes. She then had me listen to the soundtrack to the broadway musical Wicked. It was really good I enjoyed it. We then got hungry and went downstairs to get breakfast because banana chips weren’t going to fill us up. She made apple toaster strudels and we each had a glass of chocolate Soy milk. After we were still hungry so she made some scrambled eggs and that filled us up. When we were finished her parents told us that we were going to the city in about an hour.

“Hey do you want me to do your makeup before we leave?”

“Yeah sure why not.” I said deciding to let her have some fun.

When she was done I looked in the mirror. She had finished and looked really pretty.  After that we headed to the mall. We didn’t bring money so we just kinda walked around scoping out hot guys. It was pretty fun. After awhile we went back to her house and I decided to spend another night. We got on skype for a little bit and saw that John was on. Victoria still needed some neighbors to visit so she could get a frontierville husband so we asked him to add her. He refused until she let him video chat me. We ended up fighting about it with him but then made a compromise. I would write to him, but he had to add her first. Then we could video. He agreed and added her then I talked with him for awhile. She decided that he needed to ask me out so she pressured him until he did. I was about to give him my answer when his internet was shut off. After he got off, Victoria and I got dressed up and took lots of pictures and also made a video to the song Popular. It was pretty epic.

“So tomorrow, we should totally freak out Jacob.” She started.

“How do we do that?” I asked intrigued.
