For the next few days everyone seemed to be rather quiet. I didn’t really talk to Marc, even though he gave me hugs everyday, and we rode the same bus, he was like a completely different person now that he had a girlfriend. At the table no one ever mentioned the words boyfriend, girlfriend, or even love. We all would just sit there and try our best to cheer up Kevin. He seemed really sad all the time, it was just horrible. It was about thursday that he actually came to school looking somewhat happy. I was surprised, everyone was. We were all sitting around the table at lunch when he came up to sit with us.
“Hey losers whats up?” He asked looking amused.
“Nothing much dude, nothing much.” Dylan answered.
Everyone else had still been sitting there staring at Kevin in awe. All of a sudden he looked at me and smiled, I couldn’t help but smile back. There was a strange feeling in my stomach but I didn’t know what it was, probably the gross food I was eating. Lunch went by quickly and we all headed to our next classes. I spent the whole eighty minutes thinking about how much fun tonight was going to be.
It just happened to be homecoming week, and tonight we were all going to the float judging/bonfire that was being put on. I of course got to go with Jasey, which made me pretty happy because I knew that I wouldn’t be ditched for some loser. Chilling with Jasey was always so much fun, I absolutely loved her, she was amazing. Some of the things I liked about her were that she was funny and she had this ability to always make me laugh no matter what mood I was in. She was mean at times but it was always in a joking matter, and she was sarcastic very sarcastic. I could sit there thinking of all the things I loved about her, I probably would’ve too if the last bell of the day hadn’t gone off. Wow I wonder how so much time seemed to have passes so quickly. Oh well, I was out of school now and headed to my locker. On the way to my locker I stopped by Jasey’s to say hi.
“Heyy Jasey!!!” I said to her happily.
“Hi Jackalin,” She answered without turning around.
“Did you get your bus note?” I asked her.
“Yeah I did.” She answered me.
“Okay then when you’re ready just come over to my locker I guess and I’ll show you where the bus is kay?” I said beginning to walk away.
I got to my locker and put away my algebra stuff and getting my gold Kathy bag, the sweatshirt that I had borrowed from Halia, and my laptop just as Jasey came over to me.
“Ready to go my dear?” I asked happy to have a friend other than Kassidy riding with me.
“Why yes my dear, I am” She said laughing as we happily walked off to my bus.
We got on the bus and Jasey gave the note to Carol [who is the bus driver and a bitch, you’ll find out more about that later on ;)]. We chose some seats up back and put our headphones in. About ten minutes before Kassidy was supposed to get off she tapped me on the shoulder.
“Yeah Kass?” I asked looking across the aisle at her.
“Jasey’s supposed to get off with you right?” She asked quite dumbly. I mean I had already told her this like three times.
“Yes for the fourth time Kass! Now why do you ask?” I replied.
“Well apparently she can’t. She has to get off on Warren Hill.”
I now noticed that Jasey had her headphones off and was starring that us. I couldn’t understand what was happening so I looked to Carol who stopped the bus.
“Well...” She began. “This note has been tampered with and a last name has been crossed out, meaning I can’t let her off with you.”
“But the last name was a mix up!” I yelled.
