at last, spring has arrived. the third trimester of their third year has started.

oh and by the way at liyue high homeroom classes are switched around every semester.

unfortunately, your third semester was without nearly your entire friend group- except aether. well at least there were a few individuals you often talked to.

fortunately the teacher was lenient with the seating arrangements. "sit wherever your heart desires... just don't be loud."

y/n chose to sit with tighnari, cyno, collei, and aether. a table of five.

10:28 AM.

your instructor had given you a day with all free periods. so anyone could just hang out anywhere within the school campus.

"huh, the cherry blossoms are already blooming." y/n uttered, as they placed down their eyeliner. "how the hell do you do this??"

"yup." tighnari agreed. "we'll be graduating soon."

"how tragic." cyno pouted. "well have you guys chosen your college or whatever yet?"

"yeah." everyone at the table simultaneously answered. y/n, tighnari, cyno, aether, and collei.

"sumeru's akademiya?"

turns out everyone at that table planned to go there. even you, y/n.

"dang. what a coincidence."

that conversation brought a few thoughts to your mind. where's kazu going for college?

"miss, may i take a walk?" you stood up. "preferably to the restroom."

"sure."

you finished your business. instead of walking back to the classroom, you headed in the opposite direction. towards kazuha's homeroom; class 3-B. btw now you're in 3-D.

you pulled the door open. "is kazuha here?"

"no, he's helping with the middle-school volleyball camp in the courts." his teacher replied.

"okay. thank you sir." you showed your gratitude with an attempt at being respectful. i'll just text collei to tell the homeroom i'm going somewhere.

the doors to the volleyball courts were left open, allowing the morning breeze to enter the building.

"yo!" you called out to kazuha. "i'm here to help out."

he smiled as you skipped over. "guys, this is
y/n. they'll also be helping with the volleyball camp." he introduced you to the enthusiastic kids.

"are you guys dating?" one of them asked, leading to a lot of giggles from the girls.

"actually, yes." you replied with a smirk. "why?"

as the kids were doing receiving drills, y/n and kazuha sat on a bench observing them.

you decided to finally ask him.

"kazu, where're you going for college?"

"oh- uhm. i'm actually attending the cooking university here in liyue with xiangling. i ended up failing the akademiya's entrance exam, haha." he replied. "how about you?"

you felt kinda bad. "..sumeru's akademiya."

he went quiet for a bit, until the head coach called you over.

"alright, you can head back to class now." the coach said before telling you to clean up stray volleyballs.

you walked back into the classroom, your seatmates still hanging out at the same table.

you were in a state of distress. should i just stay in liyue for college? you put your head down. but i already passed their rigorous entrance exams..

time passed, and you had fallen asleep.

12:49 PM.

"y/n, wake up. it's lunch time." a familiar, gentle voice whispered.

"mmph.. 5 more minutes.." you mumbled half-asleep. "oh, collei?"

"yup!" she replied. "c'mon now, you don't wanna miss today's lunch!"

you sat with the people at your homeroom table; tighnari, cyno, collei, and aether.

still feeling bad about the college stuff, you just put your head down again. unfortunately, the cafeteria was too loud for sleeping.

you felt someone sit down next to you, causing you to sit up and see who it was.

"oh, hello darling." you smiled, energy increasing slightly.

"hello, y/n." kazuha replied. "how was your day?"

the rest of the table became quiet and just watched the two of you converse.

"well," you just said a few things, before cleaning your mouth with a napkin. "do you want my leftovers? i've lost my appetite."

"sure."

he sat there without moving, then looked at you.

"???"

kazuha directed his gaze towards your chopsticks.

"oh." you picked up the utensils and fed kazuha your leftovers. you could see a small smile through his cheeks stuffed with food. how adorable!

"uhh- why is everyone quiet?" you awkwardly inquired as you stuffed the last bit of egg into his mouth.

cyno just smiled back. "an EGGxellent couple indeed."

tighnari punched his shoulder. "not. here."

4:01 PM.

y/n and kazuha had just arrived home. the two lay in kazu's bed, just holding hands.

"are you sure you're okay?" kazuha asked with a concerned tone.

"i'm just tired." you replied, voice beginning to break.

...

"you know what? no"

"wh-"

"today i found out we'll be going to different colleges, miles and miles away from each other. then, our relationship's gonna have to be long distance. and we'll be too busy with college to hang out- who knows what's gonna-" you rambled on and on.

"y/n, calm down." kazuha pulled you close, and you finally released your pent up feelings. you burst out into tears, getting his sleeve slightly damp.

"i don't wanna be separated from you, either." kazuha muttered. "i'm just as sad as you are." he hugged you tighter. "it's okay. we'll try something. please, don't cry."

you had cried yourself to sleep in kazuha's arms. he himself had watery eyes as he dozed off. "i'll always love you, y/n. no matter what. long distances won't change anything."

"are you finished crying now?" he asked as you woke up. "i'd love to see your face- oh."

"hm?" you uttered.

"y/n, your eyes are so swollen!!" kazuha panicked.
