Chapter 18: Luna Clarisse Kattan-Ricci

Audriella's POV:

I woke up to someone lightly shaking me. I raise my head and rub my eyes. Seeing Zayn redressed; minus a shirt; sat beside me with his hand on my shoulder.

"Zayn?" I ask, sitting up and looking around. Suddenly remembering we are in the safe room.

"I'm sorry for waking you, princess, but it's been over an hour and your father is calling me incessantly. I really need to get you home, before he sends an army after me." He chuckles, rubbing my back.

Using Zayn's arm as an anchor point, I sit up. Sending him a small smile. "Right." I simply respond.

Suddenly, there is a loud crash heard from outside the room, I reach for my knives, only to remember I left them at home when I took off.

Zayn sighs, checking his phone and then pushing the button to unlock the doors.

"Zayn?" I hear a familiar voice.

"Yeah, come in." He sighs, standing up and walking to the door. I gasp at the sight of his back, long gashes down the middle and sides. He glances back at me with questioning eyes before turning back to the door.

I watch as the door creaks open and a head of black hair pops in. I can't see who it is, Zayn is standing in the way.

"What are you doing here? Why the urgent text to come here? And why are you half naked?" She says and I immediately recognize the voice.

"Luna?" I ask, looking around Zayn. Seeing my best friend standing in front of him. She turns her head and sees me, her eyes widening, looking from me to Zayn.

"Oh thank god!" She smiles quickly, looking relieved coming over to sit by me on the bed, "I thought Zayn was dead or injured or there was some emergency. He never has me come to the safe houses!" She laughs, pulling me into a hug

"What are you doing here, Lu?" I ask, looking over to Zayn who is staring at me, a small smile on his face.

"Oh, right. That. Zayn's my half-brother." She shrugged, looking at Zayn again "Really, why are you half naked?" She asks again, Zayn just shrugs.

"Wait? You're half-brother?" I ask confused

"Same mom, she died giving birth to me. Don't know who my dad is, but Enzo took me in and let me stay with him and Zaynie. He figured it'd be good for him to have someone outside of the Mafia circle." She spoke, her eyes suddenly widening after she said the word Mafia.

"Oh, my god. I wasn't supposed to tell you that." She quickly looks at Zayn

"It's fine, Lu, she already had the meeting. She knows everything." Zayn reassures her.

"Oh, thank god that was almost terrible!" She laughs, "Wait why are you here? Your dad said you canceled your party; that you were sick. You don't look very sick?" She speaks

"Oh, um, I just needed to get away from everything at my house and I'd been here before, I knew it was safe, so I came here. Zayn found me."

"I need you to take her home, Lu. I can't. Her mother thinks she still hates me, it has to stay that way for a while. I can't show up there with her and Leo is questioning Elijah." Zayn spoke before she could respond

"Yeah, of course, we'll tell them you needed a break and you called me. We'll say you were at my apartment!" She made up a story much faster than I would have. "Come on, let's go now before your dad sends the calvary to get you." She chuckles, repeating Zayn's earlier concerns.

I go to stand only for my hips to have pain shoot through them, my legs grow weak as I stumble. Zayn moves to me quickly steadying me. "Thanks," I mumble, looking up into his eyes. He just smiles and stares back.
