December 24th. Venice, Italy.
Sofia and Bucky spent a weekend in London, Before deciding it was much too busy for either of their liking.
So, They continued on.
With Christmas fast approaching, They both wanted to go somewhere the holiday was wildly celebrated, Similar to how it would be if they were able to spend this time in New York. They settled on Venice a little over four weeks ago.
When they wandered into the adorable family owned pastry shop — Caffè Moretti, Which was hidden away on the edge of the city, They were immediately greeted by the elderly owner Gia Moretti. They were her first customers of the day, And she took the opportunity to talk their ears off as she does with all her customers.
She reminded Sofia of Mabel and Dolores from the pub, Making her feel at ease in her presence.
However, Unlike Dolores and Mabel, Mrs Moretti holds a smidge more decorum. Helping Bucky to feel at ease around her too, She's become the kind old Grandmother they both always wished they had.
She offered Sofia — Whom she knows only as Isabella Russo, A job on the spot. Claiming she could use a young girl like her to help keep up with the afternoon lunch rush. And with a reassuring smile from Bucky, Sofia didn't have to think twice about accepting.
Bucky — Better known now as Henry Russo, Has also been able to find a job. As it turned out, Mrs Moretti's husband Lorenzo, a lifelong handyman, Can always use an extra set of hands as she put it.
When faced with questions pertaining to Bucky's metal arm, They concocted a well manicured story about how he lost lost it in the military. Bucky absolutely dreads lying, So Sofia helped him perfect a story including bits and pieces of the truth to help ease his conscience.
Only a few dare ask follow up questions, Usually elderly customers who linger as he and Lorenzo do their work. But Bucky being the kind soul he is, Always remains polite as he explains his what they believe to be a metal arm is the latest prosthetic prototype. Claiming it's still early in the developmental stage, And that's why they haven't seen any other's like it.
Both Sofia and Bucky are enjoying their lives in Italy even more than they had in Scotland, Which they didn't believe to be possible.
