How could I be so stupid? Everything that happened, it's all my fault. I took Hunter's trust and smashed it into tiny pieces. I deserve every bad feeling.
I press the palms of my hands over my eyes. After dragging my hands down my face, I resume staring at the ceiling. No matter how many times I do this, it never gets interesting. With a heavy sigh, I slide out of bed.
"I can't sit here and feel bad for myself again." I mumble to no one in particular.
Padding to my closet, I pick an outfit for the day and change. It's better than marinating in my pajamas all day. A soft knock breaks my mindless trance as I slide my shirt over my head.
"Come in." I call.
"Hey, Y/n," Luz walks in, King perched on her shoulder. "Can we talk to you?"
"Uh, sure?"
"Okay, so," Luz starts, taking a seat on my bed. "King has something to tell you." She lets King climb down her arm and onto the mattress.
"Is everything okay?" I begin to worry.
"Yeah, you just...can't tell Eda." He fiddles with his claws nervously.
"Okay..." My nerves only get worse.
"I'm...going to ask Eda to adopt me." King's voice is soft, presumably to prevent Eda from hearing. "And, if you'd want, we can get the paperwork for you too."
"I-" My mind fails to construct a coherent sentence. I blink a few times, my jaw dropped. "Yeah. Yeah!" I say, finally.
"We'll finally be real siblings." King comments with soft enthusiasm.
"We'll be official siblings." I correct, picking King up in a bear hug. "We've always been real siblings." I snuggle him with a huge smile.
"Alright," Luz says, choking up from the sweet exchange. "We'll get the paperwork. You don't have to worry about a thing."
"What about my...status?" I give Luz a concerned look. "How are we supposed to get legal documents without alerting the Emperor's Coven?"
"You just leave all that to me." Luz points a thumb to herself confidently. "I have connections."
"Alright, dork." I roll my eyes with a lighthearted chuckle. "Just be careful."
"Careful is my middle name."
"That's the biggest lie I've ever heard."
"Not important." Luz waves her hand. "King and I have to train!" She grabs the tiny demon from my arms and starts for my door.
"Train for what?" I tilt my head curiously.
"The Gland Prix!" The two shout as they bound down the hallway.
"Might as well do something to get my mind off of...everything." I mutter, grabbing Dux from his blanket cocoon, and following Luz and King.

After a bit of warming up, Luz and King decided to end with sit ups while dangling from our staffs. My lack of general chaos and rebellion has led to this all giving my muscles a bit of burn. A dangerous thing, to be out of shape, for an outlaw.
"Alright, King. What's the first thing you're going to do when you meet your dad?" Luz asks the furry demon.
King's going to meet his dad? Have I really been out of the loop for that long?
I continue my sit ups, while idly listening to the conversation. I notice Eda watching us fondly from the window of her room.
"And, ten thousand!" King exclaims, pulling himself up fully. "Well, once we're done training, I'm gonna move out of that closet, that's for sure. Then, I'm going to ugly cry. Hard!"
