"Eda!" Luz exclaims, rushing into the kitchen.
I look up at her from my place at the table. She examines the room, finding Eda is no where to be seen. Luz walks up to me, a confused look on her face.
"Where's Eda?" She asks.
"I think she took King to the market." I reply, shoveling cereal into my mouth.
"Oh," She looks down sadly. "I was gonna ask if I could go to the library."
"Okay." I pick up the bowl and drink the remaining milk. I stand up and carry the bowl to the sink. "Lets go."
"What?" Luz tilts her head.
"To the library?" I turn back to her. "Aren't you going to see Amity?"
"Pfft, what? No! I- I'm-" Luz's face flushes red as she sputters hopelessly. Finally, she slumps forward and sighs. "I'm not being as sneaky as I thought, am I?" She looks up at me sadly.
"Nope!" I smile and make my way to the front door.
Luz groans from behind me, and follows. I slip my scroll from my pocket and open up to me and Eda's messages.
Luz and I are going to the library
Okay but remember to weaoidjfegkvjmwalxmf
??
This is interrupting King's scroll time
He got mad
Anyway just remember to wear your mask and cloak
Of course
We'll be home later
Okay have fun
I shut my scroll off and tuck it away. I rush upstairs to grab my cloak and the cat mask Ed gave me. I clasp the cloak around my shoulders while walking back downstairs. I reach the front door, once again, where Luz is standing impatiently. As I loop the mask behind my ears, I approach Luz. She catches glance of me and smiles wide. She looks at my mask with an amused smile.
"Aww!" She coos. "That mask is so cute!"
"Shut up." My face flushes and I open the door. Dux's head pops from my hair with a yawn.
"Where did you get it from?" Luz continues.
"Someone gave it to me." I grab Dux as he jumps from my head and transforms into his staff form. Luz gasps loudly.
"Who?!" She grabs my arm and shakes it. "Was it your crush?" She raises her eyebrows suggestively.
"No!" I blurt suddenly.
"It totally was!" Luz points a finger in my face, thinking she's figured it out.
"Was not!" I defend.
"Who gave it to you, then?"
"Ed." I furrow my eyebrows, hoping she'll drop it now.
"YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON ED?!" Luz screeches happily.
"I DIDN'T SAY THAT!" I yelp.
"Okay, okay. Whatever you say." She puts her hands in front of her defensively. "You totally do." She mumbles to herself.
"I heard that." I grumble, mounting my staff.
"I didn't say anything." Luz feigns innocence.
"Just get on the staff."
Luz happily obliges, climbing onto Dux behind me. I wait until she's adjusted before taking off.
"Oh, yeah!" Luz exclaims. "We need to stop by Gus's house."
