Quick A/n:
For the sake of this fanfic the roof above the front door of the Owl House will be a bit bigger and the window will be in the middle. It'll make certain scenes play out smoother. That's all! Enjoy the chapter!

I strike my makeshift punching bag fiercely. I hear the door open downstairs and smile knowing my two favorite people in the world are home.

"Y/N!" Eda calls from the base of the staircase. "Can you come down here please?"

I wipe the sweat from my forehead and sling a towel around my neck. I descend the stairs quickly and walk into the living room. I open my mouth to greet King and Eda before spotting the stranger stood next to them.

"Um...hi?" I give a small wave to the strange girl. She's a bit shorter than me. Her build is thin and lean, and she's dressed in a purple and white cropped hoodie. Her skin tone is quite a bit darker than Eda's and her eyes sparkle the prettiest shade of brown.

"Hello!" The girl greets with excitement lacing her voice.

"Y/n, this is Luz. She'll be staying with us for a while." Eda folds her arms with a worried smile. She's hesitant to be too excited for the extra pair of hands, because she's worried Y/n may feel she's getting replaced.

"Awesome!" I grin happily. "Finally someone closer to my age."

"Oh, good." Eda lets out a relieved sigh. "Oh, by the way, she's human." I go bug eyed.

"Woah! What?" I lean to the side and inspect Luz's ears. "You are!"

Luz and I begin conversing over our infatuation with the other's race. Eda smiles happily as her heart melts at the sight. She walks into the kitchen, and leaves us to our adorably nerdy conversation.

Luz has been staying with us for a couple of weeks now, and has already proven to be a handful and a half, which I'm totally fine with, I love the chaos she brings.

Luz and her new friends, Gus and Willow, have convinced Eda to take them to the Covention. I have decided to tag along just for the fun of it (and to make fun of all the different Covens with Eda). Seeing as Eda and I are both highly wanted criminals, we have to wear hooded cloaks to hide our faces.

Luz, Gus, and Willow all run around in amazement at the countless different Covens. Eda and I are less impressed, seeing as we know how Covens limit your potential and freedom as a witch. I sigh as I keep to Eda's side while walking down the many long rows of booths.

After a while of mindless wandering up and down the aisles Luz runs up to us in a panic.

"Hey Luz. What's wrong?" I quirk an eyebrow at the fearful looking girl. She explains how she challenged Amity, one of the strongest witches her age, to a Witch's Duel out of anger. Eda looks a little tense, but seems to keep her composure for Luz's sake.

"Don't worry, kid. I've got just the thing for you." Eda smirks deviously. Seeing as I know Eda better than anyone I know exactly what her plan is. She's definitely going to cheat.

Eda and Luz walk off to discuss their game plan in private, and I'm left alone. I wander the stalls, making my way towards the auditorium slowly. I pass by the biggest, most extravagant stall in the entire building. Above it reads "EMPEROR'S COVEN" in bolded gold lettering. A couple castle lackeys sit in fold out chairs seemingly unamused. Upon seeing the posters of masked guards and high ranking witches, I feel my heart rate pick up. In a panic I rip my eyes from the stand, running into the theater with my head down. My face starts to heat up as the traumatic memories resurface slowly. While in my painful trance I slam into the back of another Covention goer. I look up in shock.
