Light taps on my cheek slowly wake me from my slumber. I grumble, finally coming to. Sliding my arms from under the sheets, I grab King under his armpits and lift him up. I sit up and hold him like a toddler.
He had come into my room at some point last night without my noticing. He's been doing so every night since we had come back from our visit to the island Eda found him on. I hum, not wanting to move from my spot in bed.
"Breakfast." King mumbles out, still half asleep.
"Yeah, okay." I mutter in reply.
My feet land on the cold hardwood floor, and a chill runs up my spine. I stand and stretch. Dux shuffles from his spot and runs up to me. He runs up the arm I had offered to him and makes himself comfortable in my messy hair. I wrap my arm around King's back and walk to the kitchen.
Luz and Eda are around the table talking about a portal to the human realm, I assume. I ignore them and walk to the fridge, grabbing whatever leftovers were shoved inside. I take a seat at the table and sit King in my lap. Grabbing a piece, I fed King first. He chews and gives a face of disgust.
"Cold." He whines.
"Don't eat it then." I reply, grabbing a bite of my own.
"No." King says, grabbing my wrist and maneuvering my bite to his mouth.
I grab a different bite for myself, then one for Dux. I hear Luz and Eda giggle at the sight.
"Y/n, you act so tough, but you're just a big ol' softy." Luz gushes with a teasing undertone.
"Ssssshut up." I furrow my eyebrows and stuff another bite in my mouth.
Before either of the girls can retort back, a loud crash sounds from the living room, startling everyone. Lilith's screams follow soon after. We all rushed to see what had happened.
"Help...me." Lilith begs, outstretching her hand to us from her spot on the ground.
Her arms and hands are littered with feathers, and her fingernails had turned to talons. She's turning.
Eda rushes to the couch and throws one of the pillows aside, revealing an elixir. She approaches Lilith carefully and kneels to her level.
"Calm down, just calm down." Eda instructs, pouring the elixir into Lilith's mouth. "The curse acts stronger when you're stressed."
Lilith's feathers begin to disappear. She sits up, panting.
"That was... horrible. How have you managed all these years?" Lilith stands, with Eda's help.
I grab King and head back to the kitchen to finish breakfast. Once we're sat at the table again, I summon my scroll. A notification from Penstagram sits on my home screen. I open it and find it's Edric.
Heyyy
Feel like taking me up on that hangout offer? ;)I chew at the inside of my cheek nervously. Nothing major has happened recently in terms of the Emperor's Coven, but I couldn't just leave without Eda noticing.
Let me check with Eda
I sit King on the table, so he can finish breakfast, and walk back to the living room. Surprisingly, the only person there is Lilith, who is sat on the couch practicing her glyph magic. I peek out the window and find Luz and Eda talking amongst themselves. Walking outside, I catch the end of their conversation.
"Well, I may have been using it to hide from someone." Eda says. I recognize immediately that she's talking about the portal door.
"Hide from who?" Luz asks curiously.
