A/N: There wasn't a Yule ball at Hogwarts in 1978, but it's just for the story! :) If you want to read this story, but from someone else's perspective, let me know!
While Mary was spraying a last bit of hairspray into her hair and Marlene was putting a last bit of mascara onto her lashes, Lily was already waiting at the door.
She wished the other girls would be a bit faster, she was very nervous and couldn't wait to go down the stairs to the common room.
Also, Lily was very curious to see what James would look like, all dressed up. Even though he would never admit it, Lily knew James loved wearing dress robes and going to formal party's.
Then Mary was finally finished, 'Okay, I'm ready to go!'
Sirius, Remus and James were waiting for them down in the common room. Sirius and Remus would go to the ball together obviously, Peter had already gone down to the Entrance Hall where a Gryffindor girl from a year below them was waiting for him, Mary's date was a very good looking Ravenclaw boy, and a Hufflepuff boy was waiting for Marlene in the Entrance Hall. Lily's date was James, of course.
While Lily walked down the stairs, her hands felt shaky. She really couldn't wait to see James. She hoped his dress robes were green, that color looked best on him in her opinion.
Mary and Marlene, who were walking in front of her, opened the door to the common room. She heard the 3 boys waiting for them fall silent at once. The other girls entered the room, but Lily waited another moment, suddenly unsure if she was really ready to go.
She heard Sirius say, 'Wow wow wow girls! You two look gorgeous! If I wasn't gay and Remus here didn't exist, I would be jealous of those guys going to the ball with you!'
They all laughed. 'Thanks, Sirius!'
'Wait a moment, where's Lily?! Love, come out of your hiding place, I'm dying to see how you look!' She heard James say.
Lily laughed and as her confidence suddenly came back she entered the common room as well.
The 3 boys and 2 girls were all looking at her and she felt her cheeks turn pink. Sirius let out a slow whistle and Remus smiled proudly at her. James gasped, and when Lily looked hem in the eye she saw his gorgeous hazel eyes were almost filled with tears.
Sirius was dressed in beautiful beige dress robes and Remus looked very pretty in his brown ones. James was wearing, as Lily had hoped, gorgeous dark green dress robes, which made him look more handsome than he had ever did.
Then Remus took a look at his watch, 'Oh! We're running late guys, let's go to the Entrance Hall!'
'Lady's first!' James said, as they went through the Fat Lady's portrait.
As they walked through the corridors, James grabbed Lily's hand. 'Lily-Flower, you look absolutely stunning tonight, I can't stop looking at you.' He whispered in her ear.
'Thank you! But I definitely don't look as beautiful as you do though, you look so, so, so handsome in these dress robes, James.' Lily answered.
'That's not true, I will never look as good as you do right now. But I am still doubting if you look more like an angel or a goddess.' He said as he smiled at her.
'Oh James, shut up!' Lily was sure even below her makeup you could see that her cheeks has turned a very bright shade of red.
He kissed her forehead and Lily was sure this was going to be the best evening she would ever have.
