Harry would be leaving the Burrow in a few days, the day after Bill and Fleur's wedding.
He would miss everyone very much, Mr and Mrs Weasley, Lupin, Tonks, Fred, George...
Ginny.
Ron had forced him to not give Ginny any false hints, and of course he didn't want to break Ginny's heart, but he just wished they could stay together.
But they couldn't.
Hermione, Ron and Harry would be leaving on the second of August, the day after the wedding, which meant they would miss Ginny's birthday, which was on the 11th.
But even if they wouldn't be there, Harry wanted to leave a present for Ginny.
He just felt like he had to, it would be wrong not to.
The only thing Harry had to do was to find a nice present. But what could you give to someone you loved, but just left a few days before?
He really didn't know, especially because he thought Ron might have been right, that he would break Ginny's heart by giving her the wrong signs.
But even though, he wanted to give her something that reminded her of him, or something to show that he still loved her.
Because he still didn't know what to give Ginny after thinking about it a long time, Harry decided to go for a walk in the backyard.
He cleared op his mind and just walked a bit around.
Then Harry's eyes fell on a very strange looking tree branch. When he picked it up, it felt smooth and soft in his hands. Suddenly Harry knew what he was going to give Ginny.
He took his wand out of his pocket and performed a few spells.
The small branch that has been just a stick a few minutes ago, was now curved into a ring. On the inside, you could see a little heart carved into the wood.
Harry knew Hermione would have been able to make the ring more neatly, but he was quite happy about his present. He knew it was a very small thing, but he hoped Ginny would be happy with it.
Inside the house, he folded a paper into a little bag, wrote a small note and put that, together with the ring, into the bag.
Dear Ginny,
Happy birthday!
I'm so sorry I can't be here to celebrate it, but I hope your happy with this small present.
I know it's not much, but when I'm back from my journey I will get you something better.
I miss you,
HarryThen Harry went into Ginny's room, after making sure she wasn't there, and left his present on her nightstand, with another note telling her to open it on her birthday.
Harry hoped Ginny wouldn't think it was a stupid present, and he felt a bit silly when he left the room.
He already missed her beautiful brown eyes, pretty orange hair and cheerful laugh. Every second he felt as if he was dragged further away from her.
