Gravity

Feet gliding across
the ground underneath me.
But suddenly, I have become
bound to the Earth; frozen in place-
for I am not strong enough
to overpower such a strange
yet commonly known force.
The canvas of the early afternoon
sky above me is a clear blue-
no sign of clouds anywhere.
What exactly is this sensation
called 'gravity'?
And why must it
keep me from flying?
