Just A Dream

The streets were empty, as if the
city had turned off all its lights.
Oh how diminutive it looks when
standing from the top of the hills
overlooking the small metropolis.
The stars in the sky were on fire;
falling down to the ground below.
Each descending asteroid
left a crack in the Earth once it made its
first inevitable touchdown.
Quickly they were crashing down,
coming right towards us..
yet neither of us were afraid.
Connectedness on a whole other level.
With your hand in mine, we closed
our eyes and embraced the end.

That night felt like the world had ended,
and us along with it.
But the world didn't end—
and neither did we.
It was only just a dream.
