Chapter 16: A Paladin Lunch

"Come on Lance, we gotta get back to the castle before it gets dark," Keith complained, dragging Lance across a field of purple and blue sunflowers. Only to a stop with a huff when Lance dragged his feet across the floor.

"I know but look!" Lance said pointing to the stream ahead, "the bridge is broken," Lance continued, Keith turned to look at where Lance was pointing, only to see that the bridge had indeed been swept away wondering how it happened when they had crossed it just a few hours before. Keith just shrugged and continued dragging Lance towards said broken bridge.

"We'll just have to find another way over, seeing as we don't have our jetpacks," Keith stated, Lance nodded at Keith who had finally let go of his hand. The two started to look around, Keith had no luck at trying to find another way over, turning to see if Lance had any luck, only to see him playing with the water, "Lance," Sighing Keith moved his way to Lance, "Stop playing with the water" Lance looked back up at Keith.

"I think this is the island where Katie found their Lion," Lance stated, only continuing when Keith gave him a look of disbelief, "Yeah, I know, it was like 2 years ago, but look. A temple with vines that were overgrown got destroyed and now have slightly regrown, as well as a canoe with a Lion head on it, and this planet is how she described it," Lance reasoned, pointing everything.

"Possibly, but how does that help us cross the stream?" Keith asked.

"By going over those giant rocks." Lance replied as if Keith asked the dumbest question, gesturing vaguely towards the rocks that lined the stream. Keith shook his head, and this time Lance was the one dragging Keith by the hand as he dragged his feet across the ground.

"Nope, no! No way!" Keith complained, regretting ever coming to the planet.

"Oh, come on, you are just like a cat!" Lance said to which Keith hissed at the comparison.

"I'm part Galra, not part cat!" Keith argued.

"Well with the way you're hissing, the way you avoid water whenever possible, unless it's a pool, and the way you were purring as we relaxed in that field says otherwise," Lance grinned, when Keith went red, "Don't worry, it was adorable," Lance reassured, letting go of Keith's hand as he jumped onto the first rock, "Just follow my lead."

Keith looked into Lance's eyes briefly before the blue paladin turned and jumped onto the next rock, Keith sighed growling slightly before jumping onto the first rock. After a few minutes, Lance and Keith were almost to the other side, "Careful this one is a bit slippery," Lance warned as he jumped off the slippery one, and onto a drier one. Keith then jumped onto the slippery rock, only to slip.

"Lance -" Keith started as he fell backwards, only to have an arm wrap around his waist and a hand grab is arm, Keith looked up in Lance's eye, noticing he was grinning, Keith glared right back, "Shut up,"

"I didn't say anything," Lance argued as he righted both of them, Keith sent one last glare at Lance before jumping to the next rock, Lance who just smiled at Keith, continued after him. Keith who finally made it back onto solid ground, turned to look at Lance who was on the last rock smiling at him.

"What?" Keith asked, "Do I have something on my face?"

"I love you," Lance replied, landing onto the ground in front of Keith, who was blushing.

"I love you too, idiot," Keith replied, looking embarrassed and fond at the same time.

Lance opened his eyes, sighing as the memory drifted out of his head. 'It was a nice dream at least' Lance thought to himself as he got up to put in armour on, as he got ready, he thought about the memory, 'A nice planet, on a nice day. Can't believe Katie is the one who thought of sending me and Keith on a date' Lance snorted quietly to himself, 'she doesn't have those feelings. Lance grabbed his bayard, taking a deep breath, before leaving the room to go to the training deck before team training could take place.
