Chapter 24:

Chapter 24: Suffering Planet.

Coran stood with Allura while Keith half walked, half dragged Lance towards his seat, both still slightly out of it. Shiro looked towards the two helpers, who both nodded in reassurance. Allura got the castle in the sky before allowing Coran to leave her side to enter in the coordinates, letting the castle go into autopilot before sitting down where she stood. Seeing the tense moment Lance brought the attention to himself, "Want to hear a story?"

After getting multiple forms of yes he began, "As you know, at one point Keith was the pilot of Black, myself in Red and Allura in Blue right," Lance started, moving his gaze to the different areas of the bridge, "Well on one of our missions, Allura almost died," the gasps from the others dew a smug smirk from Lance, "I saved her of course."

"You?" Pidge asked incredulously, before Lance could continue. The others also looked intrigued, although Keith tried to hide it under indifference, Lance nodded looking offended, "How?"

"I'm getting to that," Lance huffed out a laugh,"We were on a planet called Higxlin, it's mainly a forest planet but there is a massive ocean, which causes storms like hurricanes back on Earth." Lance described to the others.

"Obviously, we were fighting the Galra, well, while fighting one of these storms rolled in, faster than any storm I have ever seen." Lance added.

"The Galra retreated and Allura and myself moved to do the same, one strike from the lightning would kill you." Lance stated, being deadly serious, making the more mature members of the group frown, while the younger ones looked slightly scared at the imminent threat, "While escaping red notice a difference in the heat building, and Blue let me and Allura know about the change in frequency in the air," Lance put his hand up, stopping any questions on how to lions could tell things like that before they can be voiced.

"Blue and Allura were about to be hit, head on. But I got to her first," Lance lifted his shirt up, showing the lightning scar that went down his chest from his left shoulder to the centre of his torso, "We both got hit, which distributed the energy into something less harmful. We were both down for the count, but at least neither of us died, we got stranded in the forest for a week!"

The group looked aghast at the story, only chuckling when they saw the look of horror on Lance's face when he mentioned being stranded, especially after the comment of having greasy hair and no beauty products. Lance saw that his trick worked and everyone looked marginally more relaxed compared to earlier.

Lance continued the story about how Allura and Lance survived on the island until the storm had passed allowing the others to come rescue them, it was then Lance brought up that the storm only happened twice in the planet's year which was roughly the same as Earths.

"We'll be arriving at the Balmera soon," Allura interrupted, bringing everyone's focus back to the task at hand, making Lance sigh, "Liberating these Balmerans from Zarkon's grasp will not be easy."

"So, what's the plan?" Lance asked seriously, looking at Shiro, pausing before adding on, "We go in there and just- Pow, pow pow!" Lance made finger guns as he imitated the laser fire, keeping the tension low.

"What was that noise?" Keith asked, turning around to look at Lance incredulously.

"Laser guns." Lance replied grinning, doing jazz hands.

"No, Lance, I think you mean-" Hunk then imitated a huge laser canon, also using his arms to demonstrate the way that they fire, "-Pow!"

"That sounds like fireworks!" Lance argued, throwing his hands up.

"Technically, they're more like - ba-choo, ba-choo, ba-choo" Pidge piped up, Lance pulled a face at their demonstrations before grinning as the group joked around instead of being tense and afraid.
