"You said two guys were murdered out here, right? Ten years ago?"

"Yup, that's right," y/f/n confirmed.

"I think I might've been there the day it happened. I remember getting lost in the woods, and-and as I was wandering around, I heard these guys laugh. It sounded like they were just messing around, you know? No screams, no signs of distress. Anyway, when I heard them, I ran in the opposite direction - I wasn't about to get kidnapped or some shit. Thank god I didn't follow them...but...um...do you think that was them? Like, the guys who were killed?"

"Hell yeah! Had to be them," she said in a matter-of-fact tone, "Who else would it be? The description fits."

Score. My luck is proving to be better than I thought it was. Does that count as a near-death experience? I think it does. I'm actually kind of super terrified right now! Come to think of it, I can only see a few feet in front of me! My phone's flashlight is really not cutting it. At least it's not eerily silent, and I have my friend with me, and I-

"Yoo-hoo! Are you coming or what?" y/f/n shouted at me. I hadn't noticed she started walking again. I ran to catch up.

"I think I'm traumatized." I declared.

"Think happy thoughts. Sunshine and rainbows."

"Wow, I totally didn't think of that, y/f/n. You're a genius." I rolled my eyes.

"We have around 1.5 more miles to go." she said. We walked in silence. It's too late to turn back now, I guess.
