Present day

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I sat up in bed and groaned. Stupid alarm clock. I reached for my nightstand and turned it off. Only one more week until school starts, yippee (yes, that was sarcasm)! My friend y/f/n and I had plans to hang out. She was sleeping over at my house.

I got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. Hair brushed? Check. Teeth brushed? Also check. Face washed? You know it. I put on some mascara, applied a little concealer, and walked back to my room. Now for the hard part: deciding what to wear. I settled for something casual - I wasn't in the mood to dress up.

"Breakfast is ready, y/n!" I heard my mom call from the kitchen. I practically flew down the stairs (what can I say, I was hungry) and took a seat at the kitchen island. She had made croissants, pancakes, and bacon. Yum.

"Thanks, mom. You didn't have to, though. I'm a big girl now, remember? I can make my own food. It's not like I just graduated high school or anything." I laughed. She gave me a look but handed me my plate anyway. The food was delicious. Once finished, I went to greet my dad.

"Morning, dad." He was seated on the couch watching TV. I plopped down next to him. "Morning."

I pulled out my phone and looked at the time. It was one-thirty. Y/f/n would arrive in four hours. I scrolled through social media to pass the time.
