"Why gone so soon?" my dad asked me, not looking away from the TV.

"Her little brother had a game." I replied shortly, trudging to my room. I hadn't realized how tired I was. So much for wanting to get an adequate amount of sleep last night. I figured I would cozy up in bed and take a quick nap.

"Y/nnn..."

I was back at the orphanage.

"Boo!"

I jumped. Jake was behind me.

"Get away from me, you freak."

"But you're too precious. I can't help myself." he cooed.

I felt his arms wrap around my waist.

"Don't touch me!" I spat.

"Shh, it's okay. Let yourself give in."

He turned me around so I could see him.

"Please just give me a chance."

Just then, I heard a knock on my door. "Come in." I said groggily. My mom greeted me. "Hey, sleepyhead," she teased, "did you stay up all night? Your dad and I are going out for dinner with friends - we'll be back by morning." She rambled on further, but I zoned out, unable to hear her words.

"Remember to not open the door for anyone, we'll text you if we get home early. Oh, and I made you dinner. It's in the fridge - put it in the microwave if you want it warmed up." I blinked furiously, trying to comprehend what she was saying. "And DON'T even think about having anyone over. No parties allowed!"

"Okay, okay. No parties. I promise. Love you, mom." I half spoke, half yawned. Once she left my room, I checked the time on my alarm clock. It read 5:30 p.m. Gosh - I'd slept for a while.
