I woke up that morning tucked into bed. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and grabbed my phone from my nightstand. It was 11:15. The heavenly scent of sausage and french toast wafted into my room. I checked my socials and got up. To my surprise, when I placed my feet on the floor, I heard the crinkle of paper. I lifted my foot to find I'd stepped on a sticky note.

I didn't want to leave you on the couch so I carried you to your room. I enjoyed the movie. Be back tonight.

It was signed, "Jake." I crumpled it up and threw it in the trash can beside my desk. He better not come back tonight. My parents would kill me.

"Food is done, y/n!" My mom abruptly yelled from the kitchen. I changed out of my pj's and brushed my teeth before heading downstairs.

"Morning, mom. Morning, dad. Glad you guys made it home safe. How was last night?" I only half listened as they talked, paying more attention to my plate of food. My mom knows how to whip up the most amazing french toast ever, that's for sure. I poured an ungodly amount of syrup onto my dish.

"I can't believe you only have two more days of summer break, y/n! This summer flew by, didn't it?" I stopped shoveling food into my mouth and slowly looked up at my dad. I'd totally forgotten. I was NOT looking forward to over six-hour school days, getting up at five a.m., or the massive stacks of homework. I was a good student, but that didn't mean I enjoyed school. I set my fork down and finished swallowing my food.

"Yeah! Uhh, I'll go school shopping today. I'll see if y/f/n wants to go with me. I only need to get a new binder and some notebooks." I pulled out my phone and texted y/f/n. She replied almost immediately, saying she'd love to join. Whew. I excused myself from breakfast and got ready to meet her. It was a thirty-minute drive to her house, and I was picking her up.

"Hey girl," she said as she seated herself in the passenger side of the car, "let's get this show on the road. I call being in charge of the aux."
