Ivory was drained by the time she got Mason to talk to her over the phone, he apologized for his actions."If it makes you any better, you can come over for dinner today."
"I told you I'm okay and I shouldn't have acted like that."
"You were just being my best friend and I get that." She replied "What are you doing now?"
"Grocery shopping with mum for dinner."
"I should hang up." He said and did so without giving her a chance to speak. She huffed and couldn't help to think that they'll grow distant because of this.
"Who was that?" Gold asked as they walked into the store.
"Mason, we had a fall out yesterday." she sighed
"I know you two will sort it out ... Like you guys always do."
If only Gold knew what was going through Ivory's mind.
"Grab a cart."
She ordered and walked down the isle examining the vegetables before taking some broccoli to put in the cart.
"That's for?"
"The broccoli salad with French dressing I intend to make." She paused "Do you have homework to do today?"
"No. I'm free to help you in the kitchen."
"Good. You should know this offhand by now but grab the ingredients for molasses soy grazed salmon and vegetables."
Ivory nodded "We haven't made that in a while."
"I know and what better day to cook it up than today."
While grabbing the stuffs that were needed, Ivory thought about what was going on to keep her mind busy.
"You done yet?"
Gold's voice brought her back to reality "I am." She mumbled.
"Your dad requested a bottle of white zinfandel."
"I'll get it."
Olive and Ambrose arrived on time, dinner looked great and tasted delicious, they discussed for a while in the sitting room before sitting down at the dining table.
Olive conversed well with everyone, they learnt that she was from Canada, loved butter tarts as much as Gold did, was twenty two years old and was hoping to become a travel agent.
Gold loved her already not only because of her determination but also because she was the first girl Ambrose brought home, it meant that their relationship was promising.
Gold went ahead to invite Olive for Sunday dinners and whatever family get together they might have to which Olive gratefully accepted.
"It was lovely seeing you again."
"Same here, be patient with Ambrose cause he's a big pain in the neck."
"I'm right here Ivory." He grinned "I'm not blind."
"I have a feeling we'll get along quite well."
"Same here, I'll call you later to bitch talk about Ambrose."
Olive laughed
"That's if I don't call you first."
Ambrose scowled at the two of them
"You could both stay for the night." Robert offered seeing how late it was
"I have an early class tomorrow but we'll stay for the night some other time."
"I'll be waiting till then."
"Alright bye man." He kissed Gold's cheek "Bye mum, take care dad and be good Ivory."
Olive bade as Ambrose took her hand and walked away.
"She's amazing." Ivory commented as she watched them leave
"If that boy stays a good boyfriend to her for at least a year, I'd get him that BMW 4 he's been asking for."
"Good deal." Gold murmured "I thought he's already working and saving up for it."
"He is but I may surprise him next year ... may"
Speaking of surprises, Ivory was reminded of the ring she promised Mason that she was procrastinating to get.
She sighed
