Frozen Lake

Winter came again. It's here and I think it's very beautiful.

Every morning I wake up, the same cold air touches my skin. This cold air makes my body shiver and it makes it numb.

Later, I see just a faint shadow of what was once the sun. I can't even feel its warmth anymore. Sometimes I wonder if it was really there...

When evening comes, that's when coldness appears too. It freezes my heart from the outside and it makes me blind. The skies get darker and darker, leaving behind a forgotten light.

Night comes finally and everything feels alive. I am still here and I can say that even though I can't feel my hands or legs, I am able to see a rare scenery.

The sky is a dark blue almost black. The stars are like little rays of light fallen from the sun and thrown everywhere. The moon is big and white, it is a pure and calming light that illuminates the world.

Even though there are no flowers and the trees are empty and sad, all around me there is stony snow that shines ever so brightly.

And beyond all that, in front of me is a lake. It's frozen, but it still reflects everything. In the lake I see the beautiful snow and the empty trees. I see the stars and the moon. And I see myself.

This is why I have always loved the frozen lake.
