As soon as I step through the door of the front lobby my stomach drops and the anxiousness finally sinks in. I can't back out now because I look like a drowned rat that just stepped out of a sewer and I need to get ready for this afternoon's class.I smile at the guy who sits at the front desk despite my stomach being in absolute agony. I look back to still see Zion sitting in his car, watching me as I walk off up the stairs.
When I eventually get to the dorm door, I don't bother hesitating and standing in my own nerves so I just open the door and walk it.
"You finally arrived!" Belle smiles at me as she waddles-runs over towards me in a fluffy onesie. I drop my bag on the floor and Belle wraps me in a hug to which I return.
"You look like you need a shower.." She whispers the words in my ear.
"I know that. But thank you." I pat her back before pulling away and walking off to the shower. I grab some spare clothes beforehand.
After a shower, I walk out to everyone being awake. Everyone stares at me besides Olivia and Belle. Olivia has her nose in a book while Belle lays on her bed on her phone.
I continue my way to the small kitchen at the end of the room and begin to make myself a cup of tea.
"Elaine..." Sami's the only one to speak, but even her words are quiet and barely audible. I don't turn around, choosing to continue boiling the water. I don't even have to do anything after flicking the tab at the bottom of the kettle, so I just stand and stare at it until one of them says something else other than my name.
"What's your problem, Elaine?" Cali speaks up after a couple seconds of more silence, sounding a hell of a lot more confident than the others.
"Why do you speak it like I'm in the wrong?" I ask, turning around to face her and the rest of them.
"Because you are!" Cali almost shouts the words from where she stands by the bunk beds, shocking us all from her tone of voice.
I scoff. "Really? Because from what I know, I was the victim of the whole situation! Not Ben... I didn't owe him shit and he had no rights to know about me and my ex. None. Especially when it's to do with our fucking sex lives! I didn't even know he existed at the time me and Zion were seeing each other! But still, you lot went off with him. Having not even known him. You knew him less than you knew me and even after watching and hearing what he said to me you still left to be by his side..." I don't shout. I don't scream. My words maybe weren't calmly said, but they were firm enough to make the girls shut their mouths. Except Cali, who for some reason has more to say.
"That guy beat him up till he was almost passed out!" She shouts again, coming closer towards me. I don't take the couple of steps back I could and stay footed, leaving her standing right in front of my face.
"You don't think he deserved it for what he said to me?" I ask her. The question leaves her thinking and I look around the room to find it isn't just her who's hesitating to answer. It shouldn't even be a question where they have to debate on the answer. It's a yes or no. Simple.
"Do you agree with what he said to me?" I ask again, feeling aggravated that I haven't got an answer yet.
Still, the silence continues. Cali stands in front of me, staring at me in the eyes as she chews on the inside of her cheek. Sami and Arial are both sharing looks with each other. And Emillie's sitting on the sofa, staring at the ceiling with what looks like teary eyes.
Olivia looks around at the others in disbelief. And all I can do is turn around and continue to make my tea. Acting as if the silence doesn't hurt. Even though a part of me assumed this would be what they thought of me as, it's still a shock.
