Tanjiro and his family are mermaids and Muzan is a Pirate Captain who calls himself the Demon King and has amassed a massive fleet with the sole purpose of wiping out everything else in the sea.
The Hashira are a branch not officially recognized as Navy members and see in the public's eye as pirates. They call themselves Demon Hunters Corps.
Zenitsu and Inosuke, members of the Demon Hunters fleet (pirates turned vigilante) run into a small outdated ship flying an outdated version of their flag. It has a ratag crew of hardly sailor's but a captain that is prettier than a song and can't speak a word.
He does however, own a parrot that is more than happy to swear at them before introducing itself as Kiewā and their captain as Tanjiro Kamado.
When Tanjiro is inevitably brought in to the Court of Pillars to stand trial for flying the flag of a fleet he did not belong too. His parrot insisted that their flag was both stupid, and completely happenstance. Demanding to know what kind of silly fleet had a silly flag and such silly birds-in reference to the Corps homing crows- it burst into overly excited squawking when a Pillar announced their goal of illuminating Muzan, the Demon King.
Tanjiro had locked down the Hashira who spoke with eyes that good make an angel cry.
"The man with bloody eyes." He had whispered and somewhere outside the wind screamed.
Kiawe had gone into hysterics all over again, "The monster, the monster!" They screamed in glee. "We'll open his neck and watch him bleed!"
Tanjiro had cast the bird a slow thoughtful look before glancing back up to the Hashira,who watched the feathery cretin in mild curiosity.
"You wish to hunt down the Demon King?"
Tanjiro smiled with sugar and ice, he nodded.
After that it's pirate shenanigans and some plot sprinkled in ig. But mostly pirate shenanigans
