Modern AU where Tanjiro absolutely loves playing horror games. They're his favorite pastime.
But he likes playing them with other people. Generally he drags Inosuke and Zenitsu into his sessions, a poor decision all around.
Zenitsu is rendered useless by even the mildest horror and can be completely debilitated by a singular poorly executed jumpscare.
Inosuke on the other hand, doesn't get scared. He gets angry. This results in horridly loud screaming bouts of Inosuke furiously cursing out any demon, zombie, ghost, or whatever other device of torment Tanjiro has inflicted on them today.
Blowing out both of his best friends eardrums in the process and if it so happens to be an auditory sensitive game, also every monster in a twenty mile radius.
One lunch Tanjiro complains to Tomioka about how Zenitsu won't play with him and if he keeps playing alone with Inosuke he's sure to get tinnitus or something similar.
Tomioka, ever the opportunist but only when it comes to his red haired kouhai volunteers to play in Tanjiro's next gaming session.
Unfortunately Shinobu is there to crash his party and volunteer herself and Kanao as well.
From then on almost everyone in Kimetsu High gives a gaming session with the school renowned sweetheart a shot. Most chicken out after the first few. Some end up becoming recurring characters in Tanjiro's multiplayer endeavors.
Eventually it's mostly just Tanjiro's closest friends showing up almost every other night to either just watch or listen along or play with him.
However, all hell breaks loose when one of these nights someone asks who Tanjiro's favorite person to play games with is.
After many minutes of desperately trying to avoid both the question and the aliens in his game Tanjiro admits his favorite is probably Kanao.
They have a winner.
