TERRACE GARDEN

Monami was standing near the parapet of the terrace waiting for her Khadoos Shergill to come. He had asked her to meet him there but alas he was late.

'Yeh Khadoos Shergill ko jab bhi milna hota hai tab jaan bhujkar late aata hai. Huh...' Monami complained to herself.

Her breath hitched when she felt two arms snaking around her waist slowly and smoothly, but when she realised it was her Karan she relaxed into his arms and rested her back on his chest.

'Kya Karan tum bhi itne dino ke baad mil rahi hu aur phir bhi tum late ho. Aesa lagta hai tumne mujhe miss hi nahi kia.' Monami said sighing sadly she knew she was being dramatic but she also knew that Karan had missed her endlessly the whole while the mission had been going on.

'Rani Saheba aap nahi jaanti maine kitna miss kia hai aapko.' Karan said while setting his chin on her shoulder and nuzzling his nose in the crook of her neck inhaling her fragrance. Damn he had missed this, he had missed the comfort her fragrance gave, the warmth her arms provided and the sukoon her smile gave his heart.

'Maine bhi tumhe bohot miss kia Khadoos Shergill, jiss dinn tum shaheed huye the na tab samajh nahi aa raha tha khushi se jashn manau ki mera Karan desh ke liye dushmano se ladte ladte shaheed hua hai ya gam manau ki maine joh uske saath apni puri life bitaane ke sapne dekhe the woh bikhar gaye. Lekin shayad gam se zyada mere mann mai tumhaare liye garv tha, dukh hua dard bhi hua lekin khush thi ki mera Karan shaheed hua hai. Par phir bhi kahi na kahi lagta tha ki mere Karan zinda hai shaheed nahi hua.' Monami said while tightening her hold on his arms that were wrapped around her waist.

'I'm so sorry Rani Saheba tumhe mere wajah se itna kuch sehna pada. Lekin tumse dur tha toh aesa lag raha tha ki isse better maut hi hai...' Karan said but was soon cut off when Monami placed her hand over his mouth and turned around in his arms.

'Khabardaar Khadoos Shergill agar sorry kaha toh tum toh apni duty kar rahe the aur duty se pehele kuch nahi. Aur agar wapas mujhse dur jaane ki baat ki na toh mai tumhe sachii mai goli maar dungi.' Monami said with a pout and hugged him tightly, feeling his presence after so long. His arms also tightening around her, and how she had missed this ; being in his embrace his embraced provided her all the love, care, serenity and protection she ever needed in life.

'Chinta mat kariye Rani Saheba aapka peecha toh itni jaldi chodne nahi waala mai....waise mere peeche tum badi khadoos ban gayi ho, tumhara naam Rani Saheba se Khadoos Mahajan - Shergill rakhna chahiye.' Karan said chuckling away after teasing her.

'Karannn' Monami whined and hit Karan's arm, who was laughing at his Rani Saheba's antics.

And that's when she realized he had called her Khadoos Mahajan-Shergill her cheeks turned rosy at it.

'By the way Karan tumne mujhe Khadoos Mahajan - Shergill kyu bulaya?' she questioned him.

'Rani Saheba aapne suna nahi bhabhi ne kya kaha mess mai, bohot jald humaari sagai ho jayegi aur aap officially Shergill family ki member bann jayengi. Uss din chunni chadai toh hi bhabhi ne lekin woh unofficial tha, aur tab toh  mai bhi nahi tha tumhaare sath jab bhabhi ne woh chunni tumhare sar chadai. Lekin iss baar jab engagement hogi tab officially bhabhi sab ke saamne tumhare sir pai chunni chadaiyengi. Honestly bolu Rani Saheba maine kabhi yeh socha nahi tha ki kabhi mere naam ki chunni kissi ke sir chadai jaayegi. Uss din na aap Rani Saheba aap bohot khubsurat lag rahi thi. With that chunnidraped on your head that smile of your face, those rosy cheeks you were looking so ethereal Rani Saheba.' Karan said while closing his eyes and remembering Monami with that chunni on her head and going forward to kiss her foreheads.
