I woke up to the purr of the car engine. The last thing I remembered was entering the tunnel I turned to look at my dad in the driver's seat "where are we?"
"Nearly there now you've been asleep for hours".
I brushed the sleep out of my eyes and stretched. I turned and looked out of the window it was all green and trees and a field rolling into the distance. The countryside whizzed past and I started to feel sick so I closed my eyes.
I woke up again to my dad shaking my shoulders gently. I groggily opened my eyes and said "are we there?"
"Yep welcome to your home for now" I saw him smile and I smiled back. My eyes cleared and I open my door to look around. As I got out of the car I realized we were parked under a wooden trellis. The ground was cobbled with moss and little weeds between the cracks. I walked out into the open. I looked up at the house and I gasped. It was beautiful. Large and rustic. Like a dream home. Huge windows with Cristal clear glass. The ground was cobbled the landscaping was immaculate. Majestic trees towered next to the house. I turned around stunned. I was not expecting this. I suddenly felt a pang of jealousy. My dad had been living in this huge beautiful house whilst I and mum were there. In our little house. But then I remembered that my dad was alone here so I felt bad for feeling jealous.
"Em, should I get your bag?" Dad called to me from around the corner. "No, I'll get it don't worry" I called back to him and I twisted around and jogged over to his car. He was getting out. "Dad this place is amazing" he just smiled and nodded. After spending these past few days with my dad I noticed he was pretty introverted, but he also had an extremely authoritative aura. He suited his job. He owned a large business creating different types of furniture. He had been the boss for years and had made a good bit of money for it too.
I grabbed my suitcases and my bag and dragged them along the cobbles. He chased after me and got to the door he unlocked it and pushed it open.
The door led into an entrance hall. A long rug was stretched across the wooden floor. At the end of the hall directly opposite the front door was an archway leading into a large rustic kitchen there were large windows on the wall in the kitchen.
I took a step forward. "Oh my god" I gasped, I looked around at my dad he was smiling.
"How about I give you a tour of the house and then you can unpack," my dad said moving my bags out of the way and shuffling past me. "Yeah that sounds great"
"Pop your coat on that hanger and slip your shoes off there" he pointed to the floor.
There was a wooden island with metal stools. The whole room looked like something of tv. I had a look out of the window into the garden it was expansive. I couldn't see the end.
To get to the living room you went through the kitchen this room also looked like a room from a decorating program. All of the rooms looked like that. Stylish and modern with big windows and plants. In the end, we came to the upstairs corridor. Dad's room was the first one but there were four other doors. "There are three empty bedrooms and that one's a bathroom, two of the rooms have an ensuite you can choose which one you would like" I was shocked. I spent twenty minutes wandering between the rooms indecisively. I finally settled on the third room with the most windows and the largest en-suite. it had a large double bed and grey walls with mustard and steel accents.
