*alarm sound*
"SHUT UPPPP!!" I yell and slap my alarm clock off. I think I hit it a little too hard because damn that hurt. It was 8 am on a Sunday, time for Church. I stopped going to Church once my parents died, I believe I was around 13 when that happened, it was some gruesome shit considering I'm the one who found them in their own pool of blood.
I'm the opposite of the type of girl you'd see going to church. I dressed dingy, grunge, I reeked of alcohol and cigarettes with a hint of perfume because of all the times I tried to mask the smell. I put-on some army green cargo pants, a back & gray long sleeve top, a leather jacket, and some boots. I put on cross earrings and my headphones and take a bus to church. I left on my makeup from last night and just slightly touched it up.
I only started going back to Church because of my friend Noelle, Noelle Stiner. She was the perfect girl; blonde, blue eyes, petite, followed the rules, a virgin, goes to Church every Sunday and Wednesday. Can't say I'm not jealous of her considering how perfect her life was, sometimes I get so envious her that I could kill her. Wear her skin, adapt her personality, no one would notice right?
Shhh brain shhh. Bad thoughts go bye bye.
I get off the bus and my feet hit the wet concrete. It stopped raining midway through the bus ride but it was cold and cloudy, my favorite. I open the giant wooden doors and sit next to Noelle who's in the first few rows.
"Oh! I didn't think you'd come." She giggles and opens her Bible.
"You always think that." I lean back in the pew and look around. Not many people were there yet, I look at my watch and it's 8:30. Church usually starts at 9. I just stare at the ground and I suddenly hear a hissing in my ear with a disembodied voice. I'm startled and perk up looking around frantically. I kept hoping to see someone behind me, next to me, something. But it was nothing.
"Are you okay Jules?" Noelle ask worried. "Um yeah, I thought I heard someone speaking to me." I sigh and sit back down defeatedly. Noelle leans in my ear and says, "I'll pray for you."
Church starts and I do the whole pray, sing, blah blah blah. Then go confess my sins to "father". I always make shit up to tell him because there's something so exhilarating about lying to a religious figure.
Me and Noelle walk to the door and I stare at her long, skinny, pale legs. I stare at her long shiny hair and flowy white dress. I lick my lips and think about how she would look in a dirt hole. Covered in blood. No longer innocent, with that God she loves so much.
Stop. You can't think about that. You wanna be on the news? No? Then shut it.
She stops at the door, "You wanna hang? I ain't got shit to do today." I ask. "I can't today, I promised the Sunday school teachers I'd help with the kids. I'm sorry Julie." She looked to the floor and sighed. "It's no worries, but you need to have a little more fun sometimes y'know?" She nods and says, "I know, I know. I'll call you later, bye."
"See ya." I blow a kiss and wave bye while stumbling down the stairs in front of the entrance. I walk my ass to the cemetery entrance. At this point its sprinkling again, as I approach the entrance I see a taller, messy black haired, punk guy standing in the front smoking a cigarette. I approach and ask, "What brings you to the cemetery?"
He looks down to me, "And why do you care?" He has an attitude but I like it. "Because I wanna know, not many people come here." He cocks his head to the side intrigued. It looks like he's trying to figure me out. "I just hangout, look at graves, it's quiet." I nod in response with my hands in my pocket. "Nice...I can't disagree with that." I take a copper coin out of my pocket and place at the front to pay respect to the dead.
