Unexpected Call
Lumipas lamang ang aking eighteenth birthday pero hindi nako nagabala pang magpaparty. Mas ginusto ko pang pumunta ng ibang bansa kahit pa gusto sana ni papa na magparty kami. Tyaka we are about to enter college, naging abala kami for the upcoming defense and were really working hard para walang manahanap na loopholes or anything na poproblemahin namin sa defence.
Naka upo kami sa usual spot namin ni Pennie habang nag papahinga matapos ang mahabang pagdidiskusyon ng aming kaniya kaniyang research group. "What poem?" tanong niya habang nakatuon padin ang pansin sa screen ng TV.
"My Blue Hen by Ann Grey." Mabilis akong sumagot.
"It's about sadness, losing someone you love. From the line last line where she said, you were a high note, a summer lightning storm of a man."
Wow she's amazing she even know the line.
"The high note means the lover was something remarkable and unique, then the summer lightning storm means the lover just passed by then gone."
Her eyes were still laser focused on the screen habang nag papaliwanag tungkol sa tula. When at last she won form kuya she turned to me and asked, "Kuha mo lahat?" Tumango ako at nag paalam na para gawin ang homework.
Dali dali kong natapos ang lahat para makapag relax na, tomorrow's saturday and Kyle and I have a date so I need myself in best condition. Maligayang sinalubong ang aking kama at matutulog na sana nang tumunog ang cellphone ko.
From Cassius:
Woi Kamusta na pre?
I was surprised na nag paramdam pa ang taong ito.
Me:
Ays lang, ikaw?
I sent immediately.
Cassius:
Goods, oks lang din. Nasa restaurant bar ako ngayon kasama mga pinsan ko.

Me:

Hindi nako magpapaligoy ligoy pa, nagulo nanaman ang aking Sistema mismong unang text niya palang. Hindi ko mapigilang maging caring sa kaniya.
Cassius:
Kamusta naman kayo ni Kyle?
Why ask? It's not really his thing and for the record he does not care about me at all.
Me:
We're happy, you know he's sweet and he treats me right. Kyle is great. I'm so happy to have him, he made those feelings for you fade.
I don't know why I had to say that but my stupid ass did it, dinagdagan ko nanaman ang kasinuwalingan ko. Bumuntong hininga ako matapos isend ang message. My heart is beating fast and I can't help it, I wonder if he knows about how crazy I am for him.
Matapos non, naghintay ako ng reply for two hours and there was none. Such a Cassius move. Samantalang ako naman ambilis mag reply matapos ang ilang oras o araw na para bang naghihintay ako sa kaniyang message.
Sa gitna ng mahimbing kong pagtulog malakas na kumuringring ang aking telepono. Kinapa kapa ko muna ito dahil sa dilim at kakaunting nakapikit ang mata. Madaling araw na ah bat may tumatawag pa sa akin! Hindi tinitingnan ang telepono sinagot ko ang tawag at itinapat ito sa tenga ko.
"Hello." I lazily answered at ang mga mata ay nakapikit padin.
"Lala." It was Cassius' hoarse voice that woke me up.
"Isla." Tawag niya muli.
"Serene." dagdag niya nang di ako kumibo.
I stayed silent and didn't answer. I just wanted to listen to his voice that I longed for.
"I love you." saglit na huminto ako sa paghinga at ibinaba naman ni Cassius ang tawag.
That damn guy! Madaling araw na tyaka pa siya tatawag! At anong sasabihin niya? I love you lang! The f*ck who does that?! Magpapakalasing tas mandadamay. Now I was up until morning thinking about what he said, he was drunk and that's what he told me. Also yes were friends and we say I love you to each other but this is different. Another record, we say lab lab not I LOVE YOU! Damn it, how do I sleep? May date pako bukas with my boyfriend, BOYFRIEND.
