The portal remained open for 10 minutes so some of the explosion came through. The smoke was too thick to see through. Shrek pants and turns to Donkey to get on him and leave but he hears the voice of his mother. He turns around and gasps.
Shrek sees his parents walk through the heavy smoke. His blood begins to boil. They all share the same glare before deciding on what they must do. A battle. If they win, Shrek goes home and gets his tattoo removed. If Shrek wins, he will leave to do what he hasn't decided yet.
Shrek's father runs to try to grab Shrek by the neck and he slips away. Shrek's mother tries to grab his feet but Shrek just stomps on her head. As the smoke is clearing he notices a giant rock that he can climb on. He knows it's always better to have the high ground.
Shrek runs to the rock but his father steps in the way. He opens his arms to catch Shrek but Donkey rams into him. Shrek gets to the sandstone rock and climbs up to its tallest point. Shrek is now 10 feet above his parents and he looks down on them.
It is to his sudden realization that they are mortals. He is bigger than what they will ever be.
