Lilly Lionheart. The Lost Crown

Chapter 15

"Lilly where are you?" Leo shouted. 

"Over here Leo, I just came to freshen up and I needed a drink of water," Lilly told Leo. 

"I wanted to talk to you about my brother," Leo said

"You want to tell me why he's coming here and why you were banished?" Lilly shouted. 

"Yes, you see the real crown prince of Aurora is actually me but I let it go to my head and abused my power. I got someone killed and my father was furious. I got banished all though my team keeps telling me this man didn't die because of me I still believed it was my fault," Leo said. 

"How did he die?" Lilly asked. 

"I didn't train to use my power the way it was intended and created my own way to use power. Then one day a dark creature attacked the palace and I lost control trying to prove I am better than everyone else. I lost control and my power killed the one person that man always next to me. My father was angry and banished me even though I should have died that very same day," Leo said. 

"How did these riders end up with you?" Lilly asked. 

"Believe it or not their version of the story is different from what I remember so they all say it was the dark creature that killed the man. They chose to stay even though I told them they could leave. I was about to cross over the border when the dragon came to ask me for help. As a prince even if I am banished it's my job to protect them so we turned around and helped. If we didn't find you in the condition that we found you. We would have broken camp and crossed the border," Leo said. 

"Thank you Leo for helping me," Lilly said. 

"No problem, but I wonder what my brother wants. He has never come looking for me before even though he knew I was still living in the kingdom," Leo said. 

Lilly covered her mouth and asked, "You don't suppose they heard Diamonds cry, announcing the old one's death do you?" Lilly asked. 

"Could be, maybe your right and if the royal elder dragons heard her then they would have told my father. I wonder if my bother coming here has something to do with me being chosen as Magica's new king," he asked. 

"Leo let's go and wait in the camp," Lilly said. 

At the camp, Lilly could feel that everyone was nervous. The camp has been broken up and the dragons were ready to take off. Lilly walked over to Diamond and said, "I don't know what Leo's brother wants but in case something goes wrong I want you to escape go to the guardians for help," Lilly told Diamond. 

"I won't leave you, Lilly," Diamond said. 

"You might not have any other choice Diamond," Lilly told Diamond through their bond. "What are you two talking about?" Leo asked. 

"Only a backup plan in case things go south. I have had to ask her to break a few windows so that we can escape," Lilly said. 

"What windows did she break?" Leo asked. 

"The windows in the royal throne room of the kingdom of Caledonia. Why do you want to know?" Lilly asked. 

"Wait do you know how expensive all those windows were?" Leo asked. 

"They didn't look that special, what I saw was the same as the windows every palace had," Lilly said. 

"Was there a mountain next to this palace?" Leo asked. 

"Yes, there was, why do you want to know?" Lilly asked. 

"So the windows she broke wasn't that special," Leo said. 

"What widows were you talking about?" Lilly asked. 

"They are handpainted and tell the story of the whole kingdom of Caledonia. How the first war destroyed everything and how unity helped created the kingdom of Caledonia into the kingdom it is today," Leo said. 

"I've seen those windows only once in my life and even then it was really lucky," Leo said. 

"Why do you say you were lucky?" Lilly asked. 

"Because not everyone gets the chance to see them," Leo said. 

A dragon's roar came from far announcing its entrance. "He is really full of himself," Diamond said through their bond. The comment let Lilly laugh for a moment. 

"Why are you laughing?" Leo asked. 

"Diamond has a few things to say about your brother's dragon?" Lilly said. 

"A, her kind don't usually take well with dragons of his level demanding things," Leo said. 

"You think, she said he was really full of himself?" Lilly said. 

Leo looked at Diamond and said, "try to be nice Diamond we are breaking the law by being here so please don't test them even if you can win?" Leo asked. 

"I will try," Diamond told them in their minds. 

"Not even a queen yet and she's already a hand full," Leo whispered. 

"Hey, she was in her egg alone for a long time. Her being here is a miracle in itself you can not expect her to be okay with everyone around her. She's been alone and even for me, it's hard to know how to be among others. I am a princess but I have no idea what it takes to be one. I grew up in a forest not the palace," Lilly said. 

"Then it's a good thing your telling me now, let's hope they don't insist on taking us back to the palace," Leo said. 

"I think you should try and make things right with your family Leo. Once we leave we will be going to Magica with what is waiting for us. I think it's only fair you let everyone see their family in case they never come back," Lilly said.

"You think we might fail?" Leo asked. 

"Think about what the old one said, Leo. This dark creature brought an end to the kingdom of Magica. I don't think we are looking at an easy mission here," Lilly told Leo.  

"Not to mention we don't know where Magica's palace is or where this creature will be waiting for us," Leo added but looking at Lilly he knew he has to talk to everyone in the camp after his brother left.
