Lilly Lionheart. The Lost Crown

Chapter 17

Closing her eyes Lilly raised her hand focusing on the energy all around her. Preparing herself to call on all her power she willed herself into summoning help. 

"I see so you saw it as well, he is as good as dead," the ancient one spoke. "But he wants to be free one last time and I am prepared to grant that. I do not want to be a queen that lets others suffer, he didn't ask for this," Lilly told the ancient creature. 

"Very well I will help you, but you have to call on me. Ancient one far and distant come to my aid, lend me your power, and free this dark dragon from his curse. Let him feel his wings one last time and grant him his own will one more time," the ancient one told Lilly what to speak. 

Lilly repeated the words and closed her eyes. "Power of light becomes my aid, purify this soul in front of me, heal him so he will have his freedom one more time," Lilly shouted. 

She felt her power release Diamond opened her mouth and breathed her own light. The dragon cried out in pain as he was hit with several rays of purifying light. 

Lilly felt the dragon fighting back as well and was relieved as the last of the dark power was destroyed. To her shock, it was a royal ancient dragon even older than the unicorn. 

"Old one are you okay?" Lilly asked. 

"Princess thank you for freeing me," he spoke. 

Lilly looked at the old dragon she saw his blindness, saw his wounds, and his scars. "Who did this?" the prince demanded. 

"Old one can I get you anything," Lilly asked. 

"No my princess but thank you for helping me, freeing me could have come at the cost of your life, and yet you would help an old soul one last time. The prince is lucky to have you as his future wife. You are indeed worthy to carry the crown of Magica," the old one said. 

"Thank you, my dear old friend," Lilly said she felt the tears flowing down her cheeks as she looked at Leo. "He's about to die, if you want to say goodbye I suggest you do so now," Lilly said. 

Both princes came over and Lilly took a step back giving them time. She looked at Diamond and asked, "what is wrong?" 

"He was a big legend, Lilly, look many are coming to say their final farewell," Diamond said. 

Lilly looked around and realized everyone knew he won't make it to the morning. She looked at the ancient one standing there. Unlike the first one which was a unicorn this one was a dear. 

"Thank you for helping the old one," Lilly said. 

"You gave him his freedom and for that, he will be grateful. It's sad seeing one old die but everyone's time has to come at some point. No one is meant to be alive forever," the old one spoke. 

"Thank you for your help?" Lilly said. 

"No it is you that surprised me, never in my life have I seen a princess as skilled as you are I knew you were going to try but I didn't expect you to succeed. You are worthy to be named Magica's next queen," the deer spoke and bowed at Lilly's feet. 

Diamond looked at the deer and asked, "are you going now?" 

"No this is my end as well, both of you did really well but first I must speak with the future king of Magica as well. 

"Leo, you and Thunder are needed, she not going to make it and she needs to speak to you as well," Lilly said trying to hold herself together. 

"Old one, how can I help," he asked. 

"It was our refusal to listen that ended up being the destruction of Magica. Learn from your mistake and know this. The man's death wasn't your fault one day you will understand," the old one spoke. 

Her body lit up and a powerful ball of light appeared above the deer's head. "Princess my successor is already waiting for you in Magica. Earn his trust and he will aid you in your mission but know this there is more than one way to get there all you need to do is follow the star north you will get there in the end. But be warned it's a long and dangerous journey," the deer said as her body began to disappear. 

The ball of light entered Lilly's body and she felt the power build up before disappearing just like before. 

The old dragon looked at Lilly and said, "Take a part of my power you will need it, there are more of us in hiding than you think. You are already a queen at heart but have a lot to learn when it comes to leading a country. Leo as the king of Magica you will have a great responsibility. The road ahead is not easy and your mistakes will eventually haunt you if you do not forgive yourself. Take a dragon scale from my body and let it be a reminder that you have been forgiven. For it was never your fault that the man died. However, it needed to happen for you can not rule over both kingdoms. Magica was yours at birth, Lilly is your queen. Aurora was never yours to claim and dear prince Edmond you are a wise ruler and destined to become a great ruler. Take a dragon scale as proof that you have my blessing to be the king of Aurora," the old dragon said. 

Lilly watched as a small part of the dragon's power formed a ball of light and entered her body. She felt her body become really warm before turning ice cold. Then the power disappeared and she felt her body hit the grown but Leo caught her in time. She looked tired and exhausted at Leo and saw two dragon scales being taken off the dragon and handed over to each prince. 

"Goodbye and thank you for everything," the old one said as his body turned into dust. Lilly felt an unimaginable amount of sorrow. Diamond cried out into the sky and soon you could hear many others roars but Lilly didn't have the strength to stay awake as darkness consumed her she closed her eyes thanking Leo for taking care of her once more time. 

Leo looked at his father who was standing not far from them but all he cared about was taking care of Lilly. He picked her up and called on his men ordering them to set up a tent at once and to get the doctor.

He placed Lilly on the bed and waited for the doctor to finish his examination. "It's the gift and the fact that she used too much power yet again. Let her sleep we will know more when she wakes up Leo," the doctor said.
