Lilly Lionheart. The Lost Crown

Chapter 11

Lilly got to her feet and took her sword ready to fight the hunter but he never came as another rider arrived to attack the hunter. 

"You really are something approaching a wild dragon like this," he whispered behind Lilly. "What do you know anyway," Lilly said. 

Closing her eyes she felt Diamond wat taking on the hunters but she saw through Diamond's eyes that help had arrived. "Diamond go for it I know you can do it," Lilly told her partner. 

Flying up into the sky Lilly felt her dragon preparing to make a lot of damage. "Your hunt ends here," Diamond and Lilly told the hunters in unison. 

Diamond gave a powerful roar before attacking the hunters. They escaped but the golden egg was left behind. "Lilly I am sorry they seem to have escaped," Diamond said. Both felt the other exhaustion. "Come let's go then," Lilly told Diamond. 

Diamond landed and walked over to her dragon. Looking at her partner she noticed a would be bleeding. "Those foolish hunters," Lilly spoke out loud. 

She tried to heal the wound but another rider took her hand and said," you already used too much power if you heal this wound it could be fatal for you," he spoke. 

"Don't worry about me, I am just checking if it's a deep wound its needs to be cleaned besides I am her rider," Lilly told the rider. 

"Your dragon is royalty, do you know that," he asked. 

"Sure, it's already got me into a lot of trouble. I don't need any more trouble," Lilly said. 

"What do you mean?" he asked. 

"She isn't the only royal here you know?" Lilly whispered. She did not think the man would hear her but he did and soon realised what she meant. "You not from here, who are you?" he asked. 

"My name is Lilly Lionheart the long-dead princess of Avalon and I would appreciate it if you don't tell the whole world that secret of mine. If they find her it's either locked up or dead and I don't want a dragon war on my hand. Especially not with the dark creatures going around creating trouble where ever they go," Lilly said. 

"So it's true that Avalon does not allow their princess to bond to mythical creatures?" the rider asked. "Yeah but somehow I ended up in the forbidden forest, I grew up there and I learned to use my power there and it's where I found Diamond's egg, it's where we became partners though I don't know where this will take us," Lilly smiled. 

"Ever heard of Magica?" another rider asked. 

"Sure but what do I know about ruling a kingdom?" Lilly asked. 

"So you do know, but what are you going to do now?" the rider asked. 

"Find a place to train to learn to grow stronger and wait I suppose," Lilly said. 

"That's a plan but what do you want to learn?" the rider asked. 

"Do you know if it's possible to free a dark creature?" Lilly asked. 

"No as far as we know the only way is to kill them," the rider replied. 

"I see so even here there is no other way," Lilly said. 

"Wait you fought the dark creature's already?" a rider asked. 

"Yeah, and you should know there are dragons now as well. The last one I fought was a dragon elder called Duke, he told me about Magica and all that stuff. His last words were that there are dark dragons even stronger than he is. Prince Leon was upset at Duke's death. We have been trying to heal and free the dark creatures but the only way to free them is directly after they are infected. If they are completely under the dark spell. We haven't been able to help them," Lilly said.   

"Wow so you have been busy then," the rider asked. 

"Yeah, now if you excuse me I need to heal Diamond," Lilly said. 

Closing her eyes she spoke the same words as before and felt the weapon falling out of the wound and closing just like before. She fell to the ground but the rider caught her. 

"I told you to take it easy, your pushing yourself and that's not necessary," he said. "I don't have any other choice, it's not like you will help a stranger," Lilly said. 

"Not that's insulting us you know," he said. 

"Well, the last idiot I trusted with Diamond sent a message to my brother. I don't want to go back right now," Lilly said. 

"No not with Diamonds mate that might look for her soon," the rider's friend said. 

"Come on let's take you back to our camp," the rider said. 

Lilly tried to fight back but her body wouldn't let her. The rider took Lilly and carried her to his dragon. Diamond follows us okay, you will be saved," he said. 

Diamond had no choice but to follow but she knew with Lilly this exhausted it would be hard to make a run for it now. "You lucky my rider is this tired, if you harm her you will regret it," Diamond spoke to the rider in his mind. He nearly dropped Lilly to the ground after hearing the threat from Diamond. 

"Hey what's wrong?" his friend asked. 

"Her dragon threatened me," he said. 

"Why would she do that?" the rider asked. 

"She does not trust us," the rider answered. 

"You don't think her egg was a war survivor, do you?" the rider asked looking at Diamond. 

"That would make sense why she threatened us and don't trust us," the rider said. 

"Also it would explain how her egg got to Avalon in the first place. "These royal dragons don't live there and it's for a good reason two," the rider said as he looked at both Diamond and her brother. 

The group took off into the sky. Lilly tried to stay awake but her eyes would not let her. Drifting in and out of the darkness. She never noticed when the rider landed but she did notice a man carrying her in his arm. "It will be okay, I am here right now, I will protect you," he whispered to her. 

"What is going on Diamond?" Lilly asked her dragon through her bond. 

"My mate, Lilly, they found us. We are safe now, rest up my rider," she whispered. 

"Thank you for taking care of us, the past few days I have had to use more power than I am used to, I will be okay don't worry," Lilly tried to tell the man that carried her as she closed her eyes allowing her body to rest and recover in the safety of the man that is now the future king of Magica.
