Oda went on a suicide mission. Without telling anyone the actual location. No reinforcements no nothing.

He had decided to go a little past 2:30pm, only telling the boss "don't send anyone else, I'm doing this alone" and he was gone.

He was currently staking out the building waiting to see if Gide would be easy to eliminate. But of course, this wasn't going to be easy.

Well, Oda was still capable. He used to be a hitman after all. But he'd always wanted to be a writer. He was inspired by his favorite book series of a writer who's name he'd long forgotten. He was told a long time ago that he should follow that dream he had. But that dream is dead. And he's going to die along with it.

He proceeded towards the large, old building. He could sence that he was going to be shot through the door and ducked. After he knew it was safe enough, he went into the building and shot down all the men he could see.

The building was old, but had character. The remnants of previous battles and the regrowth of plants. It was a beautiful building. He didn't mind meeting his end here.

He went on, deeper into the building. He was faced with many more mimic soldiers. He ducked behind a broken wall and shot down as many as he could while also avoiding all the bullets coming his way. After the last of them were down, Gide came out. "well, I knew I could trust you to take us to the after life" Gide said. His voice was rough and low. "I don't think I had a choice" Oda said, raising his weapon. "well sure. But I'm happy to see you came alone. There's no need for innocent people to die when you're fully capable of doing the job yourself" Gide expressed and raised his own weapon.

They were both holding similar firearms. Both older model handguns. They were circling each other.

"why did you never take the chance to become a writer?" Gide asked. "I know that was your dream. Instead you waisted your life serving the mafia" he added sounding disgusted. "they gave me a chance at life. They were the reason I could quit being a hitman, though that didn't erase my past. I was holding onto hope that I'd be able to leave the mafia and follow that dream, but my past is soaked in blood." Oda admitted.

The both fired, missing each other bearly.

"what a sob story. This just shows how meaningless life really is, no matter what people do, we are all controlled by our past" Gide expressed with a scowl on his face. "that's just one way of viewing the world. Though it's true we all have our own pasts with our own personal experiences, doesn't mean we have to only focus on that and forget about all the good things" Oda said. "ah, you see, you saying that goes against your previous story. What you just said is what you hoped to accomplish, though you still follow the opposite" Gide said with a smirk. "What you said is true" another 2 shots fired "but I've made friends who halped me forget about the bad parts."

They both fired their guns again at the same time. Both hitting their target. Perfectly.

"hehehe, I was right. You truly are remarkable, right up until your last shot" Gide grunted falling back with a thud.

Odasaku followed.

After the call had ended, Chuuya looked over at Dazai. "are you ok now?" Chuuya asked him. "I'll see. But please, don't let him die" "yeah" the red head said and stood up. He gave Dazai a once over and turned to leave. Dazai got up and followed him.

They had made their way back to the port mafia and parted ways. Chuuya heading to Mori to request backup for Oda and Dazai going to do God knows what.

Once Chuuya got to Mori, he hesitated. He knocked and was told to enter. "Boss, I strongly advise sending backup for Oda" Chuuya said immediately after entering the office. "well, straight to the point I see. I will not be granting that request though" Mori said matter of factly. "but boss, without it, he'll die! Sure he's capable of finishing the job, but he's gonna get killed!" Chuuya exclamed "Chuuya, calm yourself. I am aware of the situation, but the mafia no longer needs him. We get what we want from the government, while Oda ties up the loose ends" Mori explained.

"besides, why do you care for such a low ranking member?" Mori inquired "because Oda is Dazai's best friend. If Oda is lead to his death, don't you think Dazai, one of your most important executives, will retaliate?" "I doubt that. I know he knows better" Mori expressed. "I'll send a team later to retrieve his dead body after the deed has been done. Now leave"

"ODASAKU!"

Dazai ran to his dying friend and fell on his knees next to him. Dazai grabbed onto Odasaku and felt for a pulse. It was there, but it was weak. "no no no no-" "Dazai" Oda groaned and grabbed Dazai's hair, pulling him close and shutting him up. "I've done what I needed to do. When I die, I want you to leave the port mafia" Oda continued. "BUT YOU'RE NOT GONNA DIE! YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE I-" "DAZAI!" Dazai gasped. "listen to me. The mafia isn't where you belong. You still have a future ahead of you, but the mafia is too dark for that future to be bright." Oda said and ended with a gasp for air.

"but-" Dazai tried but cut himself off with a light sob. "Odasaku....tell me what I should do" Dazai said weakly, bearly above a whisper. "be on the side that saves people. If you continue to live like this you'll never be happy. The business, the people. Everything. Leave it and live a good life" Oda said almost loosing grip on Dazai's hair.

Dazai looked at every inch of Oda's face. He was pale. His eyes were cloudy and his breathing was uneven.

"okay, I'll do it" Dazai said and a tear fell from his eye. Odasaku's hand lost grip of Dazai's hair and fell to the floor lifeless. Dazai let go of his friend and stared down at his legs. His vision became blurry and his lap was starting to grow moist.

Dazai never believed himself to be human. He never felt any true emotion but this was his breaking point.

He let out one sob, then another and more after that. Grabbing at his face to somehow stop the tears from flowing. He could bearly hear the sounds of another man behind him.

"Dazai?" Chuuya said softly. He reached out and put a hand on Dazai's shoulder. Surprisingly, Dazai immediately jerked away. He gave Chuuya a furious look and stood up. "how could I have trusted you. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS!?" Dazai shouted with tears still flowing down his face. Chuuya was stunned. "Dazai, I'm sorry but there's nothing I could have do-" Chuuya was cut off. "How could you send him to his death and still say you couldn't do anything? " Dazai said in a lower tone. "I thought you'd have told me" Now Chuuya was properly confused. Did Dazai think Chuuya had told Oda to go through with the plan? "Dazai, he went here on his own accord, I hadn't told him shit yet!"

"bullshit" Dazai spat. "you do everything you're ordered! You'd kill yourself if Mori told you to!" Chuuya looked at him, bewildered. "Dazai, calm down please-" Chuuya tried. He was starting to get annoyed now.

"no. I don't want to hear it now. I need to calm down before I can look at you again" before Chuuya could add anything, Dazai was already gone.

The clean up crew Mori promised did show up though.
