"what?"
Chuuya asked dumbfounded before he started laughing. "good to see you're in a better mood now" he continued with a breathy laugh. But Dazai wasn't laughing, he was looking at Chuuya in the eyes with a stone cold expression. After a pause Chuuya continued again. "you're not joking, are you? What the fuck gave you that idea!?" he yelled moving back a bit. "Chuuya, calm down" "don't tell me to calm down! We've been in the mafia for years! What do you expect us to do? Work at a diner selling beers to old fat men?!" Chuuya continued yelling.
"CHUUYA! listen to me, we still have our whole lives ahead of us! We are only 18 for God's sake!" Dazai yelled but not as loud as the other man. "my eyes were opened when Odasaku died. The last thing he told me to do was to leave this hell scape and live a better life" he explained with a hint of sadness. "I can't keep living every single day under the eye and hand of a devil like Mori to judge and experiment on! I yern to be free from this horrible world I'm in.." he trailed off and his voice got lower "..but I can't leave you here.." he added. "..I wouldn't be able to live with myself"he finished and continued looking Chuuya dead in the eye.
Chuuya was stunned to say the least. "are you serious? This isn't some bullshit you're planning just to fuck with me or Mori? This is genuine you wanting to leave the port mafia for good?" he questioned warily. "yes. I'm dead serious Chuuya. Please....come with me" he pleaded.
The ball was entirely in Chuuya's court. He could either agree with Dazai and leave the port mafia and become two wanted pm executives. (Or ex executives) Or rat Dazai out to Mori for his betrayal.
Chuuya never really liked the port mafia, more specially Mori. He did respect the man though, he was the king of the underworld after all and his boss, but he wasn't a good person. Far from it actually. But it never felt like home here, he was happy with the sheep but who caused them to be eradicated from his life? The port. He made friends with the flags when he was 16 but they're all gone now and he hasn't made any close friends since then in fear of loosing them too. The only person he can stand in this entire organization was the person sitting in front of him right now, asking Chuuya to leave with him.
So, did Chuuya really have a tough decision to make?
"what exactly will this entail?" Chuuya asked as his eyebrows furrowed together. "well, I got in contact with one of Ango's government buddies. He said we'd have to go underground for about three years so he can hide all the dirt that's on us. Ya'know, murder, money laundering, smuggling all that" Dazai explained calmly as if three years in hiding isn't terrible.
Chuuya broke the gaze and looked towards the ocean as if expecting it to tell him what to do. But of course, it's not going to, life isn't that fortunate. So he looked back at Dazai and with a smirk said "yeah. Let's do it"
Dazai jumped where he was sat and a genuine smile grew on his face, one that Chuuya could never help but reciprocate. Dazai urged forward and hugged his partner again tightly. "thank you Chuuya" he whispered and drew back from the embrace. They both missed the warmth for only a second. Dazai stood up first and reached to help Chuuya up. "no word of this to anyone, don't talk about it even in your apartment, it's bugged" Dazai said seriously as they started heading back to the limo. "ok-wait, WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS BUGGED?! SINCE WHEN" Chuuya yelled. "yeah, I bugged it as an order from Mori and it's been bugged from the beginning" he answered with a cocky smile. "you make me sick"
