Just Shut Up and Kiss Me
I decided to be honest and tell them both what really went down in Idaho. I choked back tears when I mentioned the part about my sister and I could see Finn did, too. Robin had a straight face the entire time and his gaze didn't leave my face. When I finished my explanation, Robin immediately stood up and pulled me into a hug. He mumbled something into my shoulder, but I couldn't understand him.
"What?" I asked him, but he ignored me and gestured with his head for us to start walking.
Finn stood up and grabbed my hand. We smiled at each other and watched as Robin stormed off up ahead. My smile dropped and a concerned expression replaced it. I told Finn that I was going to talk to him and that he should be safe and not talk to strangers. He nodded and chuckled a bit as I ran to catch up to the upset brunette.
"Robin! Robin wait! What's wrong?" I was running as fast as I could at this point. How is he even that fast of a walker?
"Nothing's wrong, my mom just wants me home early tonight." He didn't even glance at me when he spoke which made me sigh.
"I know your mom and she doesn't care when you're home, as long as you come home."
He stopped walking and faced his body towards me with his head looking down at the sidewalk. "Valerie.."
"..yeah?" I laughed a little as I spoke, but I immediately regretted it when I saw the solemn look on Robin's face. I gulped and darted my eyes at the few trees around me.
We had never really had a moment like this before. Robin never wanted to be serious around me. If the mood seemed to be sad or emotionless, he would crack a joke or shove me, making me fall over. That would put us into a good mood and make us forget what we were thinking about before.
I appreciate that about him. He never lets me get too deep into an upsetting topic because he knows once I'm talking about it, I won't stop. And if it's a personal matter, I'll put all the blame on myself. He hates when others feel guilty for something that wasn't their fault. Even if it was partially their fault, he would reassure them and give them a comforting hug. What isn't there about him that is to die for?
"I'm sorry about what happened back there." his eyes didn't leave the ground as he kicked some of the dead leaves around.
"Back.. where?"
"When I made you tell me and Finn about what happened with your dad. You clearly weren't ready to open up to us yet and I forced you to. I feel really terrible and I hope you can forgive me."
He was looking at me now. His brown eyes had a slight sparkle in them from the setting sun. It was so hard not to smile at how pretty he was in that exact moment. I swallowed my glee and got back into the serious mood.
"I'm not mad at you Robin. Or upset. You wanted to know and you had a right to. You shouldn't feel angry with yourself for being curious. Although, curiosity does kill the cat."
We laughed a bit at the inside joke from a few months ago. There was this orange tabby cat that me and Robin had seen everyday on the walk home from school. At one point, it started following us. It seemed interested in what we were doing. This is where the curiosity became a problem. We were crossing the street a bit too early and the cat was following us. A car came speeding towards us and we jumped out of the way. Unfortunately for the cat, who we called Jasper, didn't get so lucky. His curiosity literally got him killed. That was a sad day.
"You know, I've wanted to tell you something for a while now."
I locked eyes with Robin and furrowed my brows.
"Hm?"
"Ever since the beginning of this year, I've had like, the biggest crush on you. I understand if you don't feel the same because after what just happened, if I were you, I wouldn't like me. If you happen to feel the same, that's... awesome and I'll be stoked. But, if you don't feel the same, I hope my confession doesn't ruin our friendship because that would really suck and-"
I laughed at his rant and grabbed his hands.
"Just shut up and kiss me, Arellano."
He swiftly brought our lips together. I immediately kissed him back, smiling like crazy. My heart was pounding and my stomach felt like a million butterflies just left their cocoons at once.
We pulled away for a moment and I swear I could see his entire life story through his chocolate brown eyes. That's how close we were.
Robin didn't hesitate to pull me back into the kiss after admiring some of my hidden features. I lost myself in the moment as he placed one of his hands on my waist. We stayed like his for a few seconds before I cupped his cheeks and pulled away.
Holy shit! I just kissed Robin Arellano!
