Bhavika met Shalene for breakfast, before her mendhi ceremony.
"So how did you and Jake meet." She knew this question was coming, it was just a matter of when.
"Through the navy. He's a pilot too." She gave her a half truth.
"Oh! That's cool, is he on this mission with you?" Lene took a sip of tea.
"Um, yeah he is." Bhavika could only give short answer to her sister, who was reaching for more.
"You aren't giving me a lot to work with Vika. I want to know if he's good for you."
Bhavika sighed, "In all honesty Lene, we aren't dating. But I really like him, he's the first person that has made me feel this way."
"You're saying Carter didn't make you feel that way?" Lene was confused.
"He never made me feel butterflies, blush at a nickname. Jake does though, but I'm scared." Bhavika leaned into her hands.
"Vika, I will let you figure out what to do with these word on your own. Bhavika you are in love with him."
The words hit her like a ton of bricks, how could she not realize her own feelings. People had to tell them to her, maybe there were things you just can't figure out on your own.
"Shit." She ran a hand through her hair. "I'm scared, I don't want him to hurt me."
"You need to figure things out with him. I can't do that for you. You brought him to a massive family event and you aren't even dating. That says quite a bit right there." Lene took her sister's hand.
"You're right, how are you always right. I'm the older sister I should be giving the advice." Bhavika smiled.
"I'm quite the observer." Lene winked. "Now we got to get back for the mendhi. We aren't dressed yet."
The two women payed for their food and drinks and got back to the hotel in record speed. She went to fetch her sari for the day. There was a note sitting on floor next to the separating door.
Gone to explore. I'll see you later. - J
She smirked and placed the note on her TV stand before going to Lene's room.
The perks of becoming a hotel heir's wife definitely poured through as Bhavika entered Lene's room. There was a beautiful balcony on the outside, over looking all of lower Manhattan, a full kitchen and a massive living room.
Her Aunt Kamala greeted her at the door, "Bhavika! How are you beta?"
"I'm doing good Auntie. I'm doing good." She nodded and followed Kamala inside.
Aunt Kamala was her father's sister. She was the epitome of unmarried rich aunt, who travels the world and is all the nieces and nephews favorite aunt. There were times in her life where Bhavika wanted to be like Kamala, but she realized she was far to committed to her job to quit.
"Your mother tells me you finally got a boyfriend. Is that true?"
"Yes, he is wonderful. You will see him at the Sangeet."
