Knowledge,
fruit,
Love.
Many things are forbidden,
Yet some go against it.
Forbidden things are tantalizing,
And a challenge.
People want to have the forbidden,
I want the forbidden.
It becomes exciting,
Yet excruciating.
I can't have you,
But I want you.
You can have me,
But I don't know if you want me,
Could want me.
I could never risk everything,
In fear of everything being ruined.
I would never want to ruin it,
But not risking it ruins me,
Slowly over time.
A simple "no" wouldn't hurt me,
The ramifications of that "no,"
It would change the air between us,
I couldn't do that.
So it may stay forbidden,
Just like the fruit,
The knowledge,
The love.Steven Krauss-Akins ©2015
