The Walk

The trees linger overhead,
Blotting out the harsh sun,
Leaving rays of golden light peeking through,
Your eyes twinkle as they pass over you.
They contain all the secrets of the universe,
Every facet of life hidden in the blue of your eyes.
You speak as if you were sharing a secret,
Words only meant for me.
Words that were created just for the moment at hand.
You command silence from the world so that only your words have meaning.
As you speak the day turns to night,
Pale silver moonlight replaces the once harsh golden rays.
The night listens to what you create,
The stars dim to let you shine,
The wind speeds up to carry your words away,
The trees shield and protect,
Their leaves and bark blocking the gusts.
Yet you speak the same,
You speak like there's only you and me in the world,
The rest of the universe has no effect in you.
To you, all that matters is here and now,
There is not a past nor future,
Simply this,
Us.
